Try going to the S&W website.

It is the same frame as the 27 so as WC said it is an N frame. The difference is the 27 is carbon steel and the 627 is stainless steel. They will fit the same holsters and same grips.

Not quite. There have been several versions of the 627, the first of which had a full length underlug. It probably won't fit a holster a regular 27 would, depending on the holster quality.

In addition, the 627's have ROUND BUTT grip frames, unlike the carbon steel 27

Thanks David I completely forgot that S&W changed their production lines and has gone to the round butt grips.
