swaged .224 bullets from 22lr any barrel harm?

ok so i know a guy that makes .224 bullets from 22 cases and i am just wondering if it can harm my barrel any? i got 200 of them and i was told that they are not good on the barrel. is there any truth to that?

They are safe but just think of this. Your fired that in a 22lr chamber, its the cheapest ammo made. You have several FTF.

You cut the rim off the cases and press them after they have been stepped on. Just like reloadable cases your going to have different weights in cases

I guess my thinking is what's meant to be in the chamber States with the chamber and what is to go out the hole at the end of the gun, wasn't supposesd to be in the chamber of another.

Its a 50/50 fight.

45lcshooter..people have been doing this for ages, and its really no big deal. RCBS started out by making the tools to perform exactly this process. In fact RCBS Stands for "Rock Crusher Bullet Swage" if I recall correctly.

Also, the rims don't generally get cut off, they get pressed out.

Vernon Speer started out by making .223 bullets from fired .22 Long rifle cases in his garage. Thousands of shooters have been doing it for years without damaging their rifles. It's certainly not a new idea at all......

The cases are sorted by weight, as are the cores. The finished bullets are as consistant as the operator wants them to be, just like any other product.
