Well i don't speak American English. I speak real English because thats where i come from. Every major advancement of the 20th century from the USA, Your having a laugh matey.
Best Music in the 60's came from the UK. American TV, Leave it out. Downton Abbey was pure English. Never read such a load of Old Cock and bull in all my life..
As i live in Sweden, another great country for technology plus not forgetting the music of Abba.We can own rifles shotguns .pistols and i believe at least a thousand machine guns in private hands. A country of 10 million people that produces it own fighter air planes. So while have enjoyed the US when i have visited it,s not all that.
Actually you speak a molested form of English concocted by British socialites in the 1800s. Americans and Canadians speak the "real English." That's why American English is now the standard taught all over the world, especially in business schools, and why American English is preferred in the international job market. And why your prized BBC English sounds only faintly British, because true British accents are too difficult to understand via broadcasts.
Let's see, things invented, discovered, or developed by Americans in the 20th century....
Airplanes, nuclear power, DNA, space travel, GPS, the internet...and that's just the stuff I can think of off the top of my head. You're sitting there typing on a computer invented by Americans, with an operating system invented by Americans, sending messages across the world with a system developed by the American government.
Let's see, we then saved the world from the Germans twice, single handedly bailed Europe out after WWII, formed the UN, and defeated communism. But no, you're right, we haven't done or accomplished anything that makes us exceptional. It's all in our heads. And our personal liberty definitely didn't have anything to do with why so many great minds developed here.
By all means, please tell me more about Downton Abbey (whatever that is) and Abba.
