Synthetic and walnut

This may be a stupid question, but would it be possible to have a synthetic stock with some kind of walnut veneer or shell so you could get all weather performance with good looks. I want my next rifle to be a classy looking rifle for hunting/target shooting that can be impervious to water and still be fairly accurate.

OR is it possible to make a walnut stock durable/accurate enough with glass and pillar bedding and really well sealed wood.

Just dreaming, and would like to hear your thoughts.

What's your worry, a couple scratches and dings? Those polish right out.

The "veneer" idea is an interesting one. I wouldn't touch such a thing, for fear of de-lamination. I managed to de-laminate a dining room table one night. Not a happy occasion.

I've seen a 600+ yard prairie dog gun that looks like a gorgeous custom sporter (but with a thicker barrel).

It's got some of the msot expensive figured walnut I've ever seen, hand-shaped, perfectly hand-checkered, and a blueprinted Howa varmint barreled action in it.

From what I recall, it was carefully free-floated, so it didn't look ugly.

Sure it's possible. Do you want to build it, or pay someone to do it? How much do you want to spend? How will it feel if you drop it?

I wouldn't care if it got a few nicks and dings, it doesn't have to be a perfect piece of wood that stays perfect, although i'm not going to try to damage it of course. I just don't want the accuracy to suffer too much from swelling of the wood, but i prefer the look of wood over synthetic. I'd probably pay someone to do the work.

Check out Remingtons new stocks they are putting on the 1100 G-3 models and some of the new Wingmasters. Walnut veneer over ? Not sure if it is a synthetic interior or cheaper wood. Remington is a little vague with their description.
