Hi, I need some advice. Been doing some Googling but just can't seem to find the answers. I'm nostalgic for single shot, break-open rifles. I want interchangeable barrels in 22lr, .270/30-06 and 12 ga. Is that combination possible? From my research I've found TC is probably my best option. I don't know how to order so when I go on their site and go through their platforms it's missing one caliber or another. Please help me find what I'm looking for.

I ruled of NEF/H&R because I read I'd have to get a hard to find Versa-Pack for the 22lr. I'd have to get a specially pressurized receiver for centerfire calibers. I have to send in for barrel-fitting.

I would sure appreciate and welcome any input or advice. Thanks in advance.

TC encore is a great way to go. I have one with a custom 375H&H that MGM did. Easily switch from that to 12 gauge, to 300 win, etc at the range. To fire 22lr you just need to swap the barrel and turn the hammer and then it acts as a rimfire. its a great system.

I agree that TC is the way to go. You can get nearly any barrel you want that makes sense and a few that dont. You can easily get customs even from outfits like bullberry or match grade machine. It is easily the most versatile frame out there. They (TC) are owned and produced by smith and wesson now.

To the best of my knowledge, the T/C Encore is a great platform but it does NOT include any rimfire (22LR, 17HMR, 22Mag, etc) offering. You can choose from practically any centerfire rifle or shotgun combinations, along with several Muzzeloading barrels. I have a T/C Encore that I bought almost 15 years ago with a 50 cal M/L barrel and also a 30-06 barrel. There are also pistol barrel configurations of many typical pistol and rifle cartridges.

The T/C Contender (Gen2) DOES support rimfire (22LR, 17HMR) barrels along with a number of lower pressure centerfire rifle barrels and a variety of pistol cartridge barrel configurations.

Both are nice platforms and the G2 has several significant improvements over the earlier version Contender.

As an FYI - the "best" way to buy either of these is to buy one new with the frame that is produced and listed as a "pistol" configuration. That way, you can use it 100%legally as a pistol or make it into a long arm/rifle. *Technically speaking*, if you bought one of these frames as a rifle configuration, you cannot legally configure it with a pistol barrel later on as that then becomes a "short barreled rifle" and an NFA permit issue.

There's no rimfire/centerfire selector in the Encore hammer like there is in the Contender/G2. For the Encore to work with rimfire you need a special off center chamber, check with your barrel maker.

A rimfire Encore barrel is going to be very heavy.

For the rimfire option I'd suggest just another rifle altogether. The Encore is a rather large and weighty lump to lug around for rimfire work. Other than that I like your idea.

There are a couple of rimfire options that I feel would complement the Encore for center fire work. The first is the old TC Hotshot and then add an extended recoil pad or possibly get a new wood set made for them. That would be a slick and light single shot break action. The next is the short lived modern remake of the Stevens Favourite that Savage had out a few years ago. Either of these would be loaded with old world character that would not break the bank while being lighter and more fun to shoot with rimfire ammo.

Only rifle I could not sub moa with. But after lots of grief found the fore arm needed floated but all the same that broke my interest.
