T/C Omega .50 cal

Just picked this rifle up today. I have two friends into blackpowder rifle hunting and they are taking me under their wing so to speak. I got the blue model with synthetic stock. I wanted the stainless model but my friends told me to stick with blue. What do you guys think of the stainless verses blue with blackpowder rifles and what do you think of the Omega overall?

Btw...this is my first blackpowder rifle and I have these two friends to answer most of my questions but whatever tips you may have for me would be greatly appreciated.

Can't say much other than T/C in known for making a very good product. I shoot 'the old black powder' stuff with bits of steel and flint starting the whole bang.

i've had a .45 omega for about a year, but haven't found the right load for it yet. then again, i have only taken it to the range twice. i just bought some different powder and bullets, so hopefully i can find a load that'll shoot under 2" at 100 yds. actually, as long as it shoots accurately enough to kill a deer at 200 yds, i'll be happy. if anyone else has a .45 omega and can give me some advice on loads, i'd appreciate it. i don't want to use loads that are lower powered than the 150 gr max.

Did they give you a reason for blued over stainless? Was it just money? The blued should be fine as long as you're careful about rust. Personally, I like to spend the extra few bucks and get something that is more corrosion resistant.

i took my .45 omega to the range on monday and got about a 1.25" - 1.5" group at 100 yds. now i just need to shoot it a 200 yds to see how it'll do out there!
