I have found a great way to store gun cleaning stuff. Use a tackle box!

I have been using this Plano tackle box for a couple years for all my gun cleaning stuff. Works great! The top see through portion holds sectioned cleaning rods nicely and this one came with customizable bait partitions that can be used for brushes, jags, screwdriver bits, punches, q-tips, patches, etc. The rear part is large enough to hold several screwdrivers and tools such as a digital caliper, Allen wrench set, and feeler gauges.

I use the bottom part to hold more cleaning stuff and things for repair and gunsmithing work: solvent, oil, rebluing solution, rags, spare parts for a number of guns, needle file set, bore light, spare patches, gunsmith hammer, etc.

The whole thing is very portable and I can thoroughly clean and repair any firearm I have and it packs away so nicely. Can be had for $20 at Wal-Mart or other store that sells tackle boxes, it has been a godsend!

Just sharing a cleaning kit idea guys! Thanks! :)

Neat!
I've been using an ammo can, but since original ammo cans are getting pricey and harder to find I may follow your lead in order to free up a .50 cal.
Thanks!

This is hilarious! For years, I have been using THE EXACT SAME BOX for this purpose. The only difference is that mine has slanted dividers in the top (hate that). But, it is good to see that someone else had the same idea!

I like the small pocket sized ones for cleaning brushes and tips, and for small parts. I have many for various things. When I was doing carpentry work, I kept one full of driver tips of all the various types, magnetic extensions, countersinks and such. In another I kept various size black drywall screws for small repairs, and another with various torx drive screws (far better than phillips drive screws).

I've used small tool box with drawersome and a sewing box my wife stopped using. Just about anything that fulfills your needs will work.

It is a great idea. And some tackle bags can make great range bags. The beauty of it is that these items are often available at sporting goods stores for a song.

I put my cleaning supplies, tools, tackle box organizer trays in this

I put this in the tray above filled with items like small tools, brushes, and jags

And this with my Boresnakes in it

They work good, or a tool box into which you can put smaller plastic boxes like those for lures to be more organized. I keep a small one with a few items in a in a cookie tin in my range box to take to the range just to keep a gun running, and still another small kit in a shaving kit bag I keep in my rubber made tote full of my other hunting junk that I throw in my truck when I'm hunting. It comes in handy if my gun(s) get wet/muddy, especially if I'm out for a couple days.

Plano makes one like ColtPythonElite shows in his post, $15 or so on sale at Fleet Farm. I have two, one for BP, one for everything else. (I also have a very full gun bench crowded with tools, brass tumbler, and dirty patches and Q-tips.......)

I've been using them for years for gun related storage . I really like using it for my muzzle loading supplies and firearm tools . I have one each , dedicated for my AR , AK and BP guns .

Great idea! I've been using a tackle box for this purpose since before they made them out of plastic. My first one was metal that was given to me as a HS graduation present in 1971.

A tackle box works great for a gun cleaning box. So does a regular tool box with drawers. I use a small tackle box for small reloading tools like case gauges and will be buying another soon for bullet sizing dies for my new to me Star Sizer.

Rather than get a third tackle box (or a jumbo tackle box), the big box home store had a tool box that was not over large, but had three slide out trays like a Snap-On too box does.

One drawer is for pistol stuff, another drawer is for rifle stuff; the third is for everything else. I have a box similar to Coleman's in post 12 which sorts the jags & tips, & brushes by caliber. Top is roomy enough for a short squat bottle of Hoppe's, and enough room for grease & lube & the like. Only thing that does not fit are the one-piece rifle rods and the can of Gun Scrubber.

I've been using a tackle box similar to Omaney's for years. Just the thing for storing and segregating brushes, jags, a fistful each of various size patches, a small bottle of bore cleaner and oil, pistol length cleaning rods, dental picks, Q-tips, screwdriver set, etc., etc. Just grab the box and you have everything you need at hand.
