Takedown .22 bolt/single rifle

I would like a short-ish takedown (ie. easily made into 2 short pieces and put back together in good working order) .22 LR rifle that is bolt action or single shot. Even something like a Cricket in size would be OK. Also I don't want to spend a fortune. Does such a beast exist? The idea is to have a backpacking rifle that can be used to take small game. Already have a 22/45 5.5"? stainless bull barrel .22 pistol, but this is rather loud even with CB shorts and the short sight radius limits accuracy a bit. I may also want to leave this at a retreat/vacation residence in the country to take care of smal to largish pests.

Try a Rossi 22/410 combo, like the NEF Handi rifle. It is a break open like a single shot shotgun

Here's an autoloader that fits part of the description. You could use CB Longs in it, and just work the bolt each shot.

For the money, I have to agree with the Rossi idea.

If you're only interested in a .22, then go with the Marlin 70. They make a quality product. I'd advise you to stay away from the Charter Arms/Henry takedown 'survival' AR-7 style rifles from a reliability standpoint. I've heard and seen too much worng with those.

As for me, I have a Browning .22lr auto that takes down to a handy packable size, but they're pricier than what you seem to want to pay.

If you like the Chipmunk and Cricket mini-rifles, check this one out. Have not shot, but many reviews indicate this is a step above the other child rifles:

If you want a _really_ compact boltrifle. Plus the price is right. I've been tempted to buy a mini-bolt for years. Partly for kicks, partly for teaching skittish new shooters. For what it's worth... -MV

How about a Springfield M6 Scout. .22lr/.410 or .22hornet/.410

I bought a used one for $125. Tough little guns with ammo storage in the stock.
