The Talley folks recommended the rimfire rings for my new Sako FinnFire II 17HMR. In looking at them, I'm not crazy about the closing screw on top of the ring...just doesn't look right to me. On the other hand, Leupold recommended a ring that only comes in "high" size and I generally don't like the scope to sit high on the rifle, especially a rimfire. You guys who have this type of Talley ring....does it work OK? Any problems I need to be aware of? Thanks for your help.

Talley makes good rings. I wouldn't hesitate to use them. I happen to prefer rings like that because I find the scope doesn't turn when tightening the screws. Warne screws are at the top also, they are what I use.

Doesn't a FinnFire have an 11mm rail? If so, the Warne rings are nice. I have them on a CZ. FWIW, you can use airgun rings. I had a set on a CZ 455 for several years. They were less than 10 bucks shipped.

I also have a couple of sets of Burris Signature rimfire/airgun rings that I used on an 11mm rail. I like the insert that go in the rings. No ring marks.

In my OP I should have included the fact that the Sako has 11mm dovetail. I just looked at the Burris Signature rimfire/airgun rings and it looks more like what I want. I know Talley makes good rings. I have them on my Anschutz 17Mach2, but not the top closer. The Burris Signature are about the same price. Thanks for your help. Tom

I just read some reviews of these rings and a couple of posters said the inserts made it difficult to get the alignment right because the plastic inserts shifted when tightening the screws. Said the had to repeatedly loosen and tighten the screws before finally getting it right. Someone also said the plastic looked a little "sloppy", in his words. What are your thoughts?

I have had no trouble with them when it comes to mounting. I have a set on a Rem 40x, Rem 760, Rem 700 and CZ 452. Looks fine to me. You be the judge.

Hey Colt......,
It looks great. I called Burris and talked with them. The Signature Rimfire rings come with the zero degree insert and if I want others to cant the scope one way or another I would have to buy the kit.. Have you needed the additional inserts?

After mounting a ton of scopes the last three years I've come to the unscientific conclusion that scope mis-alignment occurs more often on rifles of newer manufacture and lower cost.

I believe you are right. I'm buying a Sako FinnFire II and putting a Leupold VX3i 3.5-10X 40mm on it. With precision Burris Signature Rings, how can I go wrong?
