I like my Walther PPS, but it has one feature that makes me nervous-the backstrap safety. If the backstrap isn't on, the gun won't fire. My worry is that if I drop the gun and the backstrap breaks and comes off, I would be defenseless.

Right now I have a rubber slip-on grip (Hogue or Pachmayr, I forget which) to hold the backstrap on, but as thin as it is, it makes the grip a bit thicker than I like. I was thinking about swapping it out for a Talon grip. Does anyone use this or any similar product who can tell me if it would completely cover the backstrap of a Walther PPS and keep it from coming off?

I have a Talon grip on my PPS and like it just fine. I wouldn't say it's the greatest thing ever, but to me, it's a better option than a rubber slip on grip which partly defeats the purpose of the gun by adding width to it. FWIW, I also went the Talon grip route to guard against the back strap coming off. They go on pretty easily and stay put well as long as you follow the installation instructions to the letter.

Electrician's tape or skate board tape would also do the trick as well. Personally I don't like Talon grips and would go for the tape. The Quick safe feature is the one thing I don't like about the PPS Classic, but I still want one.

the magazines has tabs at the end to hold the backstrap in, I have one in .40 and if the recoil of the .40 won't loose the backstrap off, nothing will, as long the magazine is in the gun.

I'm not the least bit worried about my backstrap coming off, but I found the grip to be slippery. I added the grit Talons. Although they felt really good, they didn't when I carried with no undershirt. I switched to the rubber Talons and they are beyond perfect. This gun is carried every day...gets wet in rain, hot, sweaty, etc.... Get some Talons!
