Are the Tanfoglio 380 handgun models still available for purchase and are they legal for california sales/purchasing?

I seriously doubt they are on the CA list. A search will turn up one up in a dealer consignment case though. I had one, sucked. No hollowpoint feeding, and breakage prone of small parts. Also had three safeties! Two manual one and a mag safety and I think it even had a half cock!
I recently put mine in a consignment case in CA at a place that gets high prices and it sold for $200! I recently saw one sell for $150as well but it may have been the FIE version.
Out of curiosity, why do you want one of these pistols?

my husbands dad gave him his. I don't know where the papers are for it so I hoped to just buy myself a new one. I enjoy how it feels in my hand.. weight and the grip fits well. We tried it at the range recently but it won't fire.. as you know two safetys... the pin safety we think is jammed. still hope to fix maybe and hope to find a ca listing of legal weapons... where do i go for that list??

www.calguns.net has a link to the DOJ list of approved handguns. Also, it was legal at one time for dad to have just given you husband the gun w/o paperwork and even today,it is less complicated to do some types of inter family transfers so don't worry about that gun not having "papers"!
A search or inquiry at calguns will be very informative. Also, if you lke the Tanfoglio, check out the Makarov. Same concept basically, but better quality, feeds hollowpoints generally, approved, and more available and easier to find spare parts and such.

Keep because it was a present and Go buy a couple or Bersa 380"s because they work and can get warrenty work if needed. I gave my x mine and forgot to show her all the safetys. She so smart I guess she will figuer them out.

Thanks so much guys! I finally called DOJ and they did say to do a private party transfer. Now all I have to do is get Dad to agree to sell. But i will definately look into these other guns! Thank you so much. I will continue to check this site for more great ideas. My husband even says to upgrade to a 9mm. I did better at target with his than with the site's loaner 380. who knows, maybe i was meant for bigger guns! i did once hear a story of my great grandmother was it two greats... she could hunt quail with a 22 rifle... hmmm.. i hope i could get that good. I am defintely a late starter. again, thanks.

I believe the Witness Series is one of the best deals around.
I have a Tanfoglio Witness 45acp and it is a great pistol.
The price makes you think otherwise but also makes it a great deal.
Where I live in Colorado is located one of the largest gun dealers in the state. The owner tells me that every employee to the man (including one woman) owns at least one Tanfoglio Witness.
