In 1988 I bought a small, 9mm pistol for home defense. It felt comfortable, was inexpensive (around $300) and I was assured, by the gun shop owner, whom I trusted, that it was a reliable firearm. I shot 100 rounds to check the sights, which were right on, and to establish that it worked as was expected. The pistol worked fine. Good deal.

It was/is a Model BTA-90, manufactured by Armi Fratelli Tanfoglio SPA and was distributed by EXCAM, Hialeah, FL.

My daughter-in-law kept the gun for a while, and somehow it got a bit rusty. Fortunately it was strictly cosmetic, and the internal parts and the bore were fine.

I took it out this morning, after not shooting it for at least a dozen years, and still works fine. I had forgotten how accurate it is. It actually makes for an ideal home-protection 9mm pistol as it is reliable, sufficiently accurate, and if we ever have to use it, and LE has to keep it for a while as evidence, it will not be a loss.

Does anyone have any idea of where I may be able to get a couple of magazines for this pistol? I have only the one that came with the gun, and at the time there were no extra mags in the store.

I have a BTA 90 which I purchased about the same time as you with the same importer markings on the slide. I was looking to purchase some spare parts and contacted EAA. They informed me that they do not provide parts or assistance for BTA 90's since they were not the importer at that time. They refused to assist me in locating where I could get parts. They were the rudest importer that I have had the misfortune to encounter. I complained to the parent company but they only gave me lip service and took no action against EAA.
My point is, if you need spare parts, don't look to EAA for any help. Good luck, I really liked the gun, but would never buy anything that EAA imports. I now stick with CZ products instead of their clones and am very happy.

Sure looks like a Baby Eagle (also a Tanfoglio frame) with the dust cover and rails trimmed back a bit. I image the compact CZ/Witness mags should work. Get Mec-Gars if you can find them.

BTA-90 Magazines

Howdy Folks,
I also have a BTA-90 and love it.
I was just looking through old posts when I came upon this one.
I don't know if they are in stock or if anyone is still interested, but you can try here:

Scroll down to FIE BTA-90
They list factory and after market.

I know, it is FIE, they also imported the BTA-90.
Good Luck,
Lee
