Target of opportunity at the shooting bench

This reminded me of shooting last year. I fired five with a .45, was reloading and looked up to see a little buck trot across at the 50 yd line. Didn't take him long but he didn't seem spooked...I just looked up at the right time.

Thats a cool picture, Thanks for posting it. We occasionally have Antelope walk across in from of us when we are shooting Prairie Dogs. Not a care in the world. Sometimes a Mom and little ones. We just stop shooting and let them graze on by. I've tried to get some "through the scope" picture but they did not turn out well.

I was at a range in Florida with probably 10 or 12 shooters on the line when a pheasant came out and ran across, not 20yds from the firing line. Nobody fired a shot, we all just watched in amazement.

Years ago, I read an article in a gun mag about a coyote crossing a range where a platoon of soldiers were qualifying on the Ma Deuce. As soon as ol' Wile E. appeared, all muzzles swung in his direction and to a man, the soldiers opened up in full auto. A great cloud of dust erupted around the songdog and the fire continued with each glimpse of the varmint through the dusty haze until everyone ran their guns dry. As the the dust settled, Wile E. could be seen on the other side of the range, trotting through the underbrush without a care in the world

One morning at our 200yd range a bunch of jakes just meandered across a high part of the berm. I just kept on shooting the target and they were not worried at all. I'm guessing they knew they were underage and felt safe.

Worst I heard of was an E7 that claimed to have taken a white tail on a stateside range at about 600 yards.......with an ENTAC (US version of the old SS-11 or Soviet Sagger Anti Tank joystick /wire guided missile.)
