I am sorry to have to say this but .....I would NEVER give a kid a BB gun to learn shooting or marksmanship.
I honestly don't understand how they got away with making such a dangerous toy as a BB gun for kids to play with.
First of all.... there is no safety on a BB gun and there is no way to be absolutely sure that it's unloaded.
Further more the trigger pull on a BB gun is usually extremely bad because the pressure of the air chamber rests right on the trigger.
A BB gun is a very frustrating gun to shoot because the BBs spin like a baseball and are very inaccurate.
I would not even give a kid a pellet gun if I could get him/her a kid's size .22 like a savage little rascal.

Ginny Thrasher might have something to say about that. She won 10 meter Gold Medal at Rio with one.

everbody gots dey own way uh doin'... in town, bb gun is acceptable training gun; most don't have time/money to take kids to a range- and i don't know of any commercial range that wants kids shooting. safeties on guns are redundant! only real safe is between the ears... and the kids need to learn that first thing. parent responsibility!

And wire hangers are usually free, if you've saved them through the years, like me. Consider when you total up what you spent on that, that those sell for well over 100 bucks at gun shows.

I spent around $100 on the piping and fittings, not counting the steel plates. Actually the zip ties are free for me, I have a never ending supply of them from work. (I own my own business, not stealing them from someone else)
