Taurus 445 Ultra-Lite .44spl review

I got to review a Taurus 445 UL chambered in the .44 special. For a light weight snub-nose I thought there was going to be a considerable amount of recoil, I was wrong. Whether because of the 'Ribber' grip or the mild .44spl round it was very controllable. The fixed sight had POI below POA at 50 ft. but adding a little more front sight had it hitting dead center. I'm really surprised at how much I like this wheelgun.

I wish there werent so many negative taurus posts as well... I would really like to try their 8 shot 357 which ive seen for around 500... but I hate to take a risk on 500 bucks.

IMHO Taurus makes a great revolver(S&W copies), I'm not crazy about their semi's. I had the 450T which is a lite weight 45LC, wish I never sold it.

btw, funny how the "el cheapo" cci 200gr. gold dot moves 100 fps faster than the top name brand speer 200gr. gold dot.

I have a Rossi M720 .44 SPC made before Taurus bought the rights. It is a great gun. It doesn't like the lighter 44 SPC loads. It wants 240 grains or larger.

I also have a .32 H&R Mag UL731 from Taurus. Shoots good and is an everyday carry.

Have the 450SS and the 415SS. They perform nicely. I really think those Ribber Grips work well. No load I have shot so far from either had been in any way punishing, as opposed to the same loads in other guns.

Has to be the grips. I would put those on a S&W if they made 'em.

Not sure. Was a little surprised at the slow velocities, but with such a short barrel. It's OK though, those are some large chunks of lead and copper heading down range.

The 200 gr Gold Dot and the 200 gr Blazer use the same bullet.

It's definitely the grips. A Charter Bulldog weighs 21 ounces and is very unpleasant to shoot 240 grain bullets through, with the wood grips.
