Taurus 66 HELP!

I recently purchased a Taurus M66, .357 Mag, blue 6" bbl. The gun seemed in very good shape and I haven't had any problems with it.. until one day I was wiping it down after handling (moving things around in the safe) and the yoke and cylinder fell out!

How did this happen? What can I do to fix it?

Is the gun new or used? If it is used, the previous owner probably had the sideplate off and did not reassemble the gun properly. I believe that the forwardmost screw in the sideplate, the one in front of the trigger on the right side of the gun, is what holds the crane in place. Check to see if this screw is loose or missing. If this screw is tight, remove it and see if there is a plunger, a cylindrical piece of metal and a spring, in there. I had never had a Taurus revolver apart, but have seen pictures of one dismantled. The one I saw had a plunger held in place by the front screw in the sideplate. He's correct, the forward screw holds the crane in place, like on many other revolvers. It can loosen up with a lot of shooting, or may not have been tight to start with. Always check the screws on a new, to you, firearm before shooting it.

FYI, there's also a small spring in the set-up. Make sure that you didn't lose it.
