Taurus 738 TCP?

I got several hundred thousand rounds through various Glocks and happily shot USPSA matches with "polymer framed" Glocks.

But this thread is about TCP 738 and OP asked about TCP 738 as BUG or when circumstances require stealth and whether our TCP 738s have been reliable. I have several thousand rounds through my TCP 738 and yes, it has been very reliable.

OP did not ask about military service level reliability.

Do you own a TCP 738?

No one said he did ask about military service reliability, it was meant to be a illustration of what makes a reliable durable pistol. I think you missed the point. I also believe there is confusion of polymer grips and the chassis of the gun. It is not the Polymer grip that causes failure or just cannot go the distance, it is the "Chassis" material. The Grips of a cheap gun will fail if they do not have some kind of steel to protect the Polymer. I have seen pics of Glock with cracked Polymer grips similar to the LCP's. The Spectrum will be a modular design. That will in itself be a huge improvement. I had numerous cracks and rail splits with my LCP's. And that is why I will not every buy another. And I don't need the recoil produced by them.

LOL,, Like your post about Glocks. How did that get into it? And IDPA matches? Regardless, I believe that the TCP would be a good choice for the low price and whether you agree or disagree, the LCP and the TCP are in the same class. The comparison was meant to establish long term reliability results from build quality. Sorry that went over your head. No worry. Happy shooting! I am off to the range.

If you had actually read the post, he clearly asked for "alternatives", Sorry you do not agree with my opinions, and I am hardly NOT allowing others to post their views. What a ridiculous statement. Obviously you do not care for other opinions about the gun or want to hear about alternatives, but that is too bad.

However since you own one, then tell me if If buy one, can I shoot PlusP or Hot Ammo out of the gun? If the pistol is as good as you say it is, then it should be no problem.

Linux Mint is on one end of the TCP 738 spectrum, while I'm on the opposite end. It's possible that neither of us wrong. Just different experiences.

The Kahr CW380 looks like and feels like, it is a superior pistol than the Taurus TCP. But, due to my experiences with both of them, I avoid them. I've sent two pistols back to Taurus. Never again! Kahr won't authorize a return, until you achieve their "magical" 200 round break in. The way it ran, 200 rounds would have taken quite a spell.

The OP asked for alternatives to the TCP and I suggested the LCP. Not because it's pleasant to shoot, it's beautiful craftsmanship, or it's price. My LCP has not broke, nor failed to feed anything I feed it.

I have since become quite enamored with the Glock 42. Much more pleasant to shoot than any of the above listed pistols. A little big for a true pocket pistol. I carry it in a DeSantis Mini Scabbard. That's an OWB, leather, holster. Works for me 95% of the time. The other 5%, the LCP fills the bill.

Good shooting to all.
