Has anyone shot one of these to destruction?

Ive been told they only last about 2-5k rounds. In 22lr, that is pretty easy to reach.

I find a ply 22 fun to shoot. I even carried it on walks sometimes until I learned how easily even cci is can be fouled by oil, and these need to be kept lubricated to function.

There isn't much too these pistols so I am wondering if that 2k round figure is accurate. Will you have catastrophic parts failures in a few thousand rounds?

What I've heard is that once the slide becomes easy to rack they're essentially worn out. It is very difficult to chamber a round by racking the slide. Much simpler to use the pop up barrel. I'm able to do it but I work with my hands a lot.

Any experiences specifically with the ply 22 (not so much the pt 22 there are several design changes. The pt 22 actually uses a shock buffer etc).

I would also appreciate any round counts for ply 22 owners just go give an idea of how they last.

I've found the design great to introduce new shooters because you can use the tip up barrel to load one at a time. It's great practice of handgun mechanics at least as far as a double action trigger pull, sound/blast but without recoil, and keeping your front sight aligned THROUGH the trigger pull etc.

I have owned a 22-PLY for several years now,,,
I bought it and a 25-PLY back in 2010.

I haven't kept a round count,,,
But I do shoot my 22-PLY regularly.

I have a spare mag for it,,,
Every time I go to the range I shoot at least 18 rounds,,,
It's such a fun little shooter that on many occasions I've shot 36 rounds.

My range trips average once or twice a month (often more),,,
So 12 to 24 trips/year equals a minimum of 216 to 432 rounds per year,,,
Multiply that times 10 years and one could calculate between 2,160 to 4,320 rounds through the gun.

My 22-PLY is still tight as a drum,,,
I've seen no signs of advanced wear,,,
And it's still easy to hit a 10" pie plate at 25 yards.

Now the one thing I don't do is run a steady stream of 40 grain Mini-Mags,,,
That's what I have in the mags when it's "on duty",,,
For plinking I use Federal Bulk Pack ammo.

I do find that the gun gets dirty and will foul quickly,,,
So I keep her very clean and mildly (not drippingly) oiled,,,
It only takes about five minutes to scour the gun and re-lube her.

I do realize this is not a serious target pistol,,,
Nor is it suitable to be my main self defense weapon.

But if you want something that is a fun jacket pocket pistol,,,
Then this little "mouse gun" will suit you just fine.

Nine rounds of 40 grain Mini-Mags,,,
Can easily ruin a Goblin's day.
