Taurus Revolver Security System - how to disable it?

While I generally dislike Taurus (yes I have experience with the brand) and see no earthly reason for one of these locks, the Taurus design for the lock is so much better than the S&W design. I have never heard of a lock engaging itself on a Taurus. I have heard of several such instances with the S&W design, and even witnessed one.
Personally I would remove it anyway, even if it did void the warranty.
