Several years ago sometime around 2003-2004 Taurus came out with the Stellar Tracker that was chambered for the 45 acp round. I am shopping for such a revolver or one that will take the same ammo as what my automatics use which is the 45 acp...... Anyone have info pls contact me... Do appreciate

I think your best bet is to monitor gunbroker or auctionarms.

I had a Taurus Tracker in 45 colt awhile back and it was a very good gun. I should have kept it and had it shortened to a 3" barrel and gotten some good aftermarket grips, once they started being made. I should have gotten it in 45 ACP and done the same thing, Shorten the barrel to 3" and get good grips.

The .45 ACP Taurus Tracker was one Taurus I nearly bought. I just waited too long once they were 'on closeout' (<$300 at a local shop). A friend's was a nice revolver - worked quite well, although it will never be mistaken for a S&W. He sold it without giving me a shot at it, sad to say. Of course, the ultimate in .45 ACP revolvers is still the S&W 625, like my 625JM.

I have a 4" version and it's a very nice gun. One ragged hole kinda accuracy. Got it for $310 at a local gun show 2 years ago.
Couple of things to be aware of.. It won't chamber 45 Auto Rim. 45ACP in clips only.
Taurus are the only source for the 5 shot clips. As the gun was discontinued a few years ago, make sure the clips are still available.
The cylinder is cut such that the gun can be used with 45 ACP without the clips (the cases headspace on the rim, just like the 1911) but you can't eject the cases, you have to pull them out with your fingernails.
Mine doesn't like being dirty or firing dirty ammo. Any 'grime' in the chambers will stop the rounds from chambering fully and won't let the cylinder close up.

Well, you never know, you might see a nice 625 at a gun show that somebody's trying to unload so they can buy a Glock or something.... I've had mine for ten or twelve years, and I like it much more than the Taurus 441I have.

The Taurus my friend had would chamber and fire .45 Auto Rims. A fellow on one of the forums said his would, too. The last new closeout one at my local pusher wouldn't close, neither would one at another store, with my dummy primerless .45 Auto Rims, made for that test. I believe that we were evidencing some significant manufacturing slop. The two years or so has jaded my memory - I actually actively decided no on the Tracker because of the .45 AR problem - never thought about the 'Stellar clip' availability.
It has taken me some time to amass the revolvers I want... believe me, you cannot pay too much for a good revolver. I would save my sheckles a bit longer - or find a long gun I no longer needed. I did the latter, bye bye to my M1 Garrand, .45-70s, SKS, etc - only a couple of CZ .22s and a Puma M1892 remain. I shoot the revolvers a lot more... but that's me. YMMV.

That is interesting. Mine will chamber a AR round, but won't allow the cylinder to close (latch up) with the rounds in place.
For me, that was a real disappointment. I specifically bought it to use AR in. The gun dealer (a table at a show) had no idea and it was my fault for not checking prior to purchase.
I called Taurus customer service and was told 'ACP in clips or dropped into each chamber only'. I also asked about a 460 Roland conversion. The Tech on the other end spluttered and again, said no..
It's such a nice gun that I am thinking about getting the cylinder machined down to accept AR. I am 'free' of the the 5 rounds clips then.. The 'pull the ACP empties out with your fingernail' doesn't work for me..

Brian Williams, I've got your gun, or one like it to be more honest. It is an excellent shooter in accuracy...recoil is no problem with these grips by Hogue.
I won't be selling it as it can never be replaced, the Taurus people in their infinite wisdom stop making them in that caliber, as well as their older model 431 and 441 in .44 specials. They should be made to walk on a bed of hot coals.

There are still a few for sale (NIB) on Gunbroker. Just search for Taurus Tracker. I didn't know that Taurus made them in .41 Mag as well, but there they are..
