Nice, how bout a real reason? Remove your hatred for federal government and tell me what the circumstances were.

He was walking the Browns dog, He had 2 rounds go passed him, got arrested and tasered. They tried to get him to turn snitch.
The Browns dog came back by itself, They were warned of the surprise attack.
Element of surprise lost.
No charges against dog walker.
Hope you enjoyed the abuse, your free to go.

I have lost my sense of humor over events like this.

Thus far, I have been able to find statements from the guy, Brown, and the Marshall in charge.

The guy says he "felt bullets fly around his head". Brown says he heard gunshots. The marshall/spokesman says no shots fired.

Those who will always believe the LEO will believe them. Those who always believe the non-LEO will believe them.

Either the guy and brown are lying, or the marshall is.

Cute, the criminals justifying the crime.
Sorry but the IRS site is not very credible to me.
I pay up because they are thugs who will shoot me if I don't.
The Browns have my sympathy and my prayers.
The thugs do not.

Funny, no rebuttal for the argument I'd use. But then the .gov is probably quite aware that they are in breach of contract for not upholding the constitution.

Spin

"...barricaded..." "His home, with its solar panels and private well, was designed to function "off the grid." Brown said he has enough food to last several months" - copied from one of the blogs supporting them

Sounds like a compound to me according to the posted definition.

John

It is all the spin they are told to tell us. I dont care what the dictionary says about a compound. You all know the reasoning for the use of the word instead of the word "home"

Every night I lock my doors, and dead bolt them. This makes my house more of a compound.

Ridiculous. :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

In the interest of intellectual honesty.

Thanks for clearing that up. However:

Dr. Ron Paul will appear today June 26th at 4:30 ET on Neil Cavuto's show on FOX NEWS.

He will counter a false story being spread by the Associate Press that was first picked up from the Concord Monitor blog of local NH reporter Margot Sanger Katz.

The AP's story falsely draws lines that incorrectly insinuate that Ron is a 'supporter' of Ed and Dr. Elaine Brown of NH.

The Browns are an elderly couple who were recently convicted of tax evasion. They are currently at their home, resisting arrest. They have refused to surrender and have apparently threatened to defend themselves if the government comes after them.

Dr. Paul had no idea who the Browns were until he was asked about them in two television interviews. He made comments to the effect that he thought they were courageous to defy the IRS especially KNOWING what the consequences might be. Like many other candidates both past and present, Ron believes that we need to find an alternative to the IRS.

Being a longtime NH resident, I have known about the Browns for 20 years during which time I was aware they were not paying their taxes. They have never been violent in the past.

As to the AP's insinuations that Dr. Paul would condone any violence during their resistance to arrest of the kind Sanger-Katz has described, I say this is ludicrous.

Furthermore, Dr. Paul does NOT advocate non-payment of one's taxes.

Dr. Paul simply stated that their resistance to the IRS took some courage, because certainly they know they will have to suffer the consequences of their actions, sooner or later.

As usual, the AP makes incorrect assumptions and prints them as if they were facts.

Actual quote of Dr. Paul's:

"I compare them to people like Gandhi, who was willing to speak out and try to bring about change in a peaceful manner."

As far as anyone knew, that is all the Browns have done so far, is peaceful non-compliance with the IRS.

Many other candidates both past and present have not only opposed the IRS and have made mention of it as did Huckabee in the last debate, but have made it the centerpiece of their campaign, such as Steve Forbes has done.
I don't think that Dr. Paul is aware that the Browns have threatened to shoot any federal agent that tries to arrest them.

I have heard them say that they would defend themselves.
Do you have another direct quote?

And how would they defend themselves? By throwing spitballs at the feds?

When they say that they will "defend themselves" what they mean, is that they will shoot anybody that tries to arrest them.

You mean this Ghandi?

Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest.

Though I prefer...

An error does not become truth by reason of multiplied propagation, nor does truth become error because nobody sees it.

HiroProx,

The Browns broke the law, had a trial, didn't like the outcome, and are now throwing a temper tantrum. If you break the law, you have to pay the consequences. To equate taxation and segregation as equal evils is ridiculous.

If anyone catches the movie about Gandhi on their local UHF station, you might begin to understand his love for guns, fast cars, and women.

No, there was no trial.
There was a kangaroo court, a dog and pony show.
The outcome was pre decided, evidence was not allowed.
It was a sham.

Do you have any concrete evidence that this was the case?

While I don't consider their precise position as having merit, I do agree with their actions thus far as by the .gov's being in breach of contract, they have no authority beyond their ability to use force or fraud to gain compliance.

Though in all honesty, the feds are probably going to kill them, and we'll here the same excuse from the "Feds are never wrong" section of "They were just following orders."

Funny,

I thought I read about them being tried in absentia because they did not come to the trial.

I don't have all the info handy, but I think the judge threw out something like 42 motions they tried to make in defense (all their defense) as frivolous and misleading so they skipped the end of the trial and sentencing.

*On a side note. The judge did appeal the case for them.
