Tax rebate. How will you spend it? (Merged threads)

This is in the negotiating stage, hasn't made it to the Senate, and hasn't been signed. Ergo, it does not exist. When the Easter Bunny delivers a golden egg, I will figure out how to spend/save it, but there is no Easter Bunny yet. This proposal could disappear in smoke and mirrors, which Washington D.C. is justifiably famous for...

This program is planned to amount to 150 billion dollars. There are roughly 300 Million people in the Usa. If my math is right, that is a cost of 450$ for each citizen of the usa... working or not. I wonder how much my taxes will have to go up?

If you and your wife had combined income of $75,000 ($37,500 each) then Uncle Sam gives you a big bag of nothin'.

Uh, no. It is couples who have an adjusted gross income of $150,000 combined. That doesn't mean that each person makes $75,000 each, either. There are various deductions that will result in a AGI much lower than your salary. It's not uncommon for someone's AGI to be five or ten thousand, or even more below each person's actual salary.

This whole scheme is such a fraud. I think I'll go withdraw $600 from my ATM and then deposit it tomorrow.
You don't get it, its free money, consume! ;)

Seriously though mine is going to the bank since thats where it would have wound up if it wasn't taken from me in the first place.

So, if I am a 20 yo "Dependant", but I cut a paycheck, what does this mean for me? My folks get an extra $300, and I'm jipped of my $600?

Yeah I fired a CZ-75 B a few years ago and I fell in love with it.

VERY smooth, very ergonomic, and one of the most accurate autos I've ever handled.

So last week I went to do a price check on one at a store I knew carried them and they didn't have any in stock.

So I looked up CZ USA's url and found they now have a decock version - the CZ-75 BD.

Gotta have one!

I wont its going in savings I count my self lucky when free money falls into my lap!

Huh. With this and other tax credit cash (from summer job), I might have something... probably be spent on important stuff (room and board), but might put a little towards a .22 conversion kit for an AR.

I count my self lucky when free money falls into my lap!

In a nutshell, your statement perfectly illustrates the problem with our government. Hint: it ain't "free" money. Somebody had to pay it to the government in the form of taxes. If they've got enough money to give everybody some back whenever they want to, how much more "spare" money do they have layin' around? And if it's "spare" or "free", why did they need to take it out of my paycheck to start with?

BOT, I'm buyin' ammo before the prices go up again.

It's not free. The government makes no money iteself, every penny it spends it collects in "revenue", i.e., taxes, from your pocket, and everyone else productively employed's pocket. Admittedly, the top 5% pay about 50% of the taxes, but the few thousand they get from me is little to what they "give" back. Remember what Teddy Kennedy said about "allowing us to keep money" - the government believes all money is theirs, not ours.

I wonder how much stimulation the economy will get from a million people buying new spinners for their rims. Or people who don't pay taxes buying a new flat screen. Yee haw. Time to buy stock in Samsung. I'd be excited if I was getting a rebate, instead of just financing them.

There are accessories I could use for guns I have. There are several guns I would like to add to my safe.
HOWEVER...
Wifey wants to up date the kitchen...:barf:.

I am sure I know exactly where this money will go. Well maybe a little ammo.

Mark.
