I was in my local gunshop a few days back and asked if they had anything new and affordable in. The salesman immediately handed me an AK 47 (variant?) made in Hungary, imported by KBI of PA, with no bayonet lug/muzzle brake, and a blonde thumbhole stock. The price was $350 and it came with a single 5 round magazine.

What is this gun? Do they take standard AK magazines? Are they any good? Why are they so cheap? Should I have bought it? Can I put a different stock on it? Is it reliable? Thanks for any information about this rifle.

It looks completely identical to both links. I don't know if it says FEG on it for sure but do I need to run back to the store and grab that thing? Is there anything else it could be?

It said made in hungary and kbi, PA on it.

Yes!

There's a small chance it could be an SA-2000M, which could only take single-stack mags. However, I believe those all had plastic Choate stock sets.

Hell yeah I'll buy it from you for $350 if you decide later that you don't want it!

Fair enough. Let's see if the gun is still available in the first place before we get too excited talking about specifics. Also, you can only legally buy the gun for yourself. If, after owning it, your wife wants it out of the house, let me know (I thought that was your original intention). Else it would be considered a straw purchase which I wouldn't be willing to participate in.

Shearstress: My intention is of course to buy it for myself. I would also have no part in a straw purchase (which is defined by law as legally buying a firearm for someone who cannot legally own/purchase such firearm).

I am just wondering what the guns real value would be.

No worries, man. I hope you wind up getting the rifle. Hit me up if you get sick of it. First right of refusal and all that.

Thanks for your help. I'm going to have to go take another look at it. If only I hadn't picked up that matching numbers 59 Romanian SKS last week. Then I tricked it out with a Tapco set and made it compliant (no permanent mods). Should have saved my money.
