Ok. Been holding out for YEARS until I could afford a SigSauer hand gun. Was at a consignment gun sale and there was a SigPro SP2009 9mm. The guy showed me the price in the gun value book and it was about $700 bucks. I offered the guy selling the consignment gun $400 bucks. They called him and he accepted. Never fired once. Brand new gun.
I can't find a ton of info on the Sig Pro series, but I'm wondering.... is this a SigSauer product, or did I buy a knockoff gun? I couldn't pass it up for the amazing price, but.... is it a SigSauer, AND WILL IT BE AS DEPENDABLE AS A SigSauer HAND GUN?
I DON'T KNOW A TON ABOUT THE SIG PRO SERIES so any info you guys could give me would help me a lot.

Thats a fine firearm, I would suggest that you get the Sig Sauer book, written by Massad Ayoob, that book is packed with helpful info about all flavors of Sigs.........

Nightwing.

That was a decent price for the gun although I have seen them for $385.00. I had the .40 SIGPRO for a while before I sold it to a member here. It was a quality handgun, I just didn't shoot it well. The SIG purists don't really like the SIGPRO, but its a SIG all the way.

^Good to hear!

Yeah. The only other place I've ever seen my exact gun is at the gun show this weekend! Couldn't believe it! It was beat to hell, only had 1 magazine, and just looked like it had been treated pretty poorly. They wanted $475 for it.
There was someone with another Sig Pro 9mm that was very very close to mine and wanted $695 brand new for it.
So I have no clue. I feel like I got a good deal.
We'll see how I like it when I go shooting later this month.
Just happy to have a fixed site pistol! After my walther P22 with the malfunctioning barrel...this will be a delight, and a great improvement for home security.

Nightwing,

I had a Sig Pro 2022 that I bought at Gander Mountain for about $475. It was chambered in .357sig.

At the time, I was clueless to Sigs, and primarily bought it because I wanted a Sig Sauer. I soon discovered that the Sig Pro is kind of the child that no one talks about in the Sig Series. For whatever reason, "Sig guys" just haven't welcomed the polymer frame of the Pro series into the Sig family very well.

Mine was dependable and was fairly accurate.

I abandoned it for the following reasons:

  • Couldn't get it settled in my hand very well - very large grip that I could never get comfortable.
  • Didn't like the .357sig round
  • Didn't like DA/SA action (this was my first DA/SA pistol)

Only one of those things is the fault of Sig, and that is the grip size.

I also discovered when I tried to trade it in that I wasn't going to get jack for it, so I traded it online with a guy for a Glock 19 and haven't looked back.

It is a solid weapon. No doubt. But IMO, it just hasn't been widely accepted.

^ Hmm
Well I gotta fire it to know if I love it I guess. Haven't had a chance yet. No ranges anywhere near me. Gotta drive a very long distance to go to one. So... we'll see what happens.

Hope my post didn't come across as too negative. Keep in mind that was just my exerience with it. I hope it fits your hand and you enjoy firing the poop out of it. It is certainly not a bad weapon, just a bad fit for me.

Good gun nothing wrong with them. Some people really like the triggers. The problem as others have pointed out it is the red headed step child of the Sig line. They never became popular with the Sig faithful.

If it were me I would pass. There are tons of good LNIB Sig P series guns for $400 to $500.

They are trying to get rid of them because Sig just launched its new modular tactical plastic line.

nightwing,
the sigpro is every bit a sigsauer pistol. i own the p226 and my friend owns the sigpro. it is a very nice shooting gun, reliable, and fits me as well as my 226. some folks never warmed up to it because it deviated from the classic sig lineup. it is however, an excellent pistol. imho

I own 5 SIG's at the moment and will say yet again that the "purists" who look down at the Pro are full of stool. The gun is very well made and has the best out of the box trigger of any SIG I've had, about 9 now.The only downside is if neither of the grips particularly agree with you.The Pros are outstanding pistols and one of the best bargains out there. Some might rattle on about how you need to have a West German 220,225 or 226 to get a REAL SIG but the Pro shoots just as well and the finish is in an entirely different league of durability.Besides,it's cool having a Swiss framed gun.

Man. wish I didn't have to drive for over an hour to go shooting. I am dying to fire this new pistol!
I should drive to a pistol range today! Oh man. that would be great.

^nope. not gonna pay over 300 bucks to acquire membership and range rights. Will wait till I have a day with a buddy to drive out to the national grasslands and target shoot out there for free
