Tennessee Firearms Association files Amicus re: Bump Stock Ban

I spent some time on their website. I need to read up on the group some, and from what I’m seeing I may be dropping a few coins off to occupy their beancounters for a few seconds.

To the purpose of this, the wording is poor but the meat and potatoes are there. The Orangeman betrayed us and ATF ran with it. I would expect congresscritters to get a bill up for a floor vote before the SCOTUS ruling could hit and I truly believe that the new bill would hurt us more than giving in on bumpstocks. It would contain intentionally vague but pointed verbiage to outlaw all devices or attachments which make a firearm mimic a prohibited class of firearm. There goes the bumpstocks, can cannon, a whole bunch of pistol braces… I’m all for freedom but once it’s gone it’s hard to get back, especially without lasting ugly consequences.

The ATF seems to have been given full authority to pass gun laws. The ATF originally stated they don't have the power or authority to make gun laws and they described "machine gun" as with a single pull of the trigger. That was changed to, a single action of the shooter.

If the courts allow the ATF to be the decider of gun laws, what is to say, with this gun unfriendly administration pushing them like it is, they wouldn't say that semi-auto rifles and pistols expel rounds too fast and they too will now be classified as machine guns?

This is precisely what I keep trying to explain to fudds who think the bump stock ban didn’t effect them because they didn’t own a bump stock. Once you give them the power to completely redefine the meaning of terms it won’t be long until your Marlin Model 60 is an NFA item that belongs on a permanently closed registry. Oopsie, guess you’ll just have to saw it in half.
