Should be good to go. The Dallas Zoo is owned by the city which means they can't post the 30.06 signs.

    30.06:

Zoos generally could go either way. Some might meet the definition of "amusement park" if they are big enough, but they still have to post.

Ft Worth zoo is posted, as it does not belong to the city. (Was the last time I went anyway)

In case you're worried about a gorilla attack, it's a little known fact that Jabari was set up. ;->

Far less safe in the parking lot, though.

The Dallas Zoo is not 30.06 posted and I've carried there for years.

Just another reason why i should move down there. If i remember right, in missouri any goverment property is off limits. Thats why they had a big issue with public parks when the ccw first went in effect up here. Where are you not allowed to carry there? Here im off limits to goverment property and house of worship and bars. Not that it stops me though ;)

Great website - Google "Texas 30-06" - a whole website with places folks are listing that post 30-06 signs. Of course, because it's NOT there doesn't mean it's not posted...:uhoh:

That's the first place I check when going out to new places.

Correct. While the land itself is owned by the city, the property is leased to, and administered by, a private organization.

Actually, the Dallas Zoo is not owned by the city any more, I think. I'm not sure if it is leased to the Dallas Zoological Society, or outright owned by them. So its still public or I havent seen any signs yet so either way its still legal.

http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local-beat/Dallas-Zoo-Ownership-Turns-Private--53061402.html - this is back in August of this year

The article mentions management of the Zoo and all contents, but neglects to say if it is outright ownership being transferred or not

The staff was certainly transferred but I do know if the property itself changed hands. I was of the impression that it was only a staff/admin shift and not an outright asset transfer.

I'm friendly with a bunch of the staff there - I'll try to remember to ask 'em...

    ===============

ETA - I just asked, and the definitive word is that the city kept the property.

Do you remember the study they did about him getting out? They spent like $100K on it it. Do you know their findings?

They determined the wall wasn't big enough...I laughed my tail off when that was on the news....

I knew something was up when you didn't post an actual web site. Googled "Texas 30-06" and got all sorts of things including this thread, but didn't any any particular sites claiming to list Texas 30-06 postings.

Turns out, that is because the quoted Google phrase is in error. Its "Texas 30.06" and not "Texas 30-06"

    Here is the site...

    Mattthehat-

How was Jabari the gorilla "set up", and why?

For those not familiar with the case, the gorilla escaped from the Dallas zoo and injured some people., A man with a pocketknfe cut a rope holding a gate shut and helped others to escape the area where the gorilla was. Dallas police shot Jabari, I suppose with shotguns. News didn't say what they used or how many shots.

The zoo people apparently had no guns or knowledge of how to subdue an escaped animal.
