Stopped by scheels today in Iowa city after a visit to the university hospital. Decided to pick up a pound of of IMR 4166 with Enduron in it. The 22 cheetah mk1 I built likes to copper foul at around 4400 fps. Figured I would give this powder a try. So I picked up a pound today, got home all excited to try and work up a load, pull the cap off.... And no seal on the top...... So I called them and they were very helpful and said to return it and they would exchange it no problems! Much to my surprise! So needless to say I will be taking all of my powder business to them for a while.

Now you know why there was no seal on your powder. THAT would be a reason to not shop there for powder. Next you'll be finding boxes of factory ammo with 3-4 fired shells in them, returned for some lame excuse.

Im not familiar with how IMR powders are sealed, but often times Hodgdon and accurate caps are not screwed on very tight so the seal doesnt stick on the top of the bottle and it can sometimes be impossible to tell from the second piece of foam that is intended to stay in the lid to serve as the seal between used. Do IMR lids include a foam seal along with a safety tamper seal like Hodgdon and Alliant powders or are they like accurate lids where there is only the tamper seal?

I bought an unopened case 1lb unique cans and each and every foam seal came off with the lid. You wouldn't know there was a seal there unless you dug in the cap to find the safety seal stuck up in there disguised as the regular use can seal.

Easy mistake to make. This wasn't the case, was it?

No, there was no foam at all in the cap. Every bottle I have ever bought had a seal in it. I went ahead and exchanged it and everything is good! Now to work up a load!
