So I had $500 and was looking for my first wheelgun. After spending hours at every gunstore in my area with disappointing results, and thinking about settling on a S&W 637, I hit up a little pawn shop on my way home. looking about the rack of old shotguns, and there she laid, a 6" stainless GP100 .357 with scope rail BSA red dot and 2 boxes of ammo. $475 later and a big smile on my face I own a new member of the family. Pics tonight, but anyone have an idea on what Ruger would charge to put irons back on it? that whole red dot business is a tad bulky and heavy.

I'm not sure, but that looks like a "B" Square scope mount. You can just order the sights & screws from Ruger, or find an aftermarket set up that you like. There are a few smaller, lighter Red Dot's on the market to take the place of the BSA. Nice gun. You will enjoy it I'm sure!

took it out and fired about 50 of each .38 and .357, happy to know I am minute of half brick(the red kind not a cinder block) accurate with DA pull at 25 yards.

shooting .38, had less recoil than my little .22 PPK clone, I forgot about the "crack" .357 makes and after 25 rounds of that I had to find some earplugs.

Trigger pull is smooth as butter, in both DA and SA, looked at Ruger's Website found it to be an 1989 model, so it's had a few years to smooth out the action.

The scope mount looks to be made from an aluminum alloy that dosent quite match the gun, and is set in place with some small filler brackets and allen screws. I'm still thinking about sending it in, see if they can fix some of the scratches where they apparently had a rough time getting the rear sight pin out.

overall, I'm very happy with it and hope to now have a deer gun to replace my Mossy. anyone recommend a good hunting round?

Nice gun

Hey there;
Very nice gun . I just bought one from my brother. he wanted some money toward his boat. Gave him whayt he asked for. $250.00.
It had less the 1/2 of the first box of ammo thru it from when he bought it new. Shoots well. My Colt King Cobra is smoother though.

Walkalong,

sent a PM on the specifics of the one you linked above, been Looking at a Burris Fastfire but dont know too much about them. wanting something that will hold up to recoil, but not ultra expensive, gotta save money for ammo after all.
