dak0ta ;... Check out (enlarge) the pix of my Marlin 30AS in post # 3597. I had to set that up for a sling back in 2002 when I got it. My front swivel attachment is clamped to the magazine tube up against the forearm cap. Been on there for 16 years now with no problem although with this rifle I don't recall ever shooting offhand with a tight sling. Even if I did I'm guessing it would be O.K. as it seems pretty solid.

I have a Marlin 336W 30-30,I just got into lever action rifle about three months ago.I really don't know much about them.
