There are some amazing AK builds in this thread. Some are so nice they no longer look like an AK. I'm almost embarrassed to post my simple rifle. All I did to mine is stain the wood, change the flash hider, change the grip and add a red dot w/mount. I also added an East German surplus front night site I bought about 6 years ago. It shoots well and it's fun to shoot too...

Good god, man, . . . you have some NICE rifles. The SVD, of course, but that super VEPR looks incredible, . . . . .as does the 74. I hope my brother doesn't see your post. Jealousy would slap him square in the face.


BTW, all I have is a very simple Saiga with Tapco plastic. Boring. Reliable and pretty accurate, though. I did the conversion on my own.

Let's not forget the Daewoo DR-200 & AR-110C with its AK gas system and AR fire control group


What about the SiG-551, 552, 553 & 556 and especially the 556R which uses AK mags & shoots 7.62x39 ammo
The SiG-55X line is AK's on the inside, just more refined on the outside

Then there is the HK-32 (POF clone really) ... Ok, the mag & ammo is the only thing that ties it to the AK ...
I know, it's an illegitimate conception because HK aborted it before it got into full production, but since it exists ... isn't that enough?


I'm guessing that the 7.62x39 AR doesn't count even though it shoots the same Commie round and the only good mags have the AK mag shape.

Awesome collections kimber kid always wanted one of those daewoos. After shooting my friends BM x39 like yours, I liked it so much....just finished my build 2 days ago. What mags you runnin? Are they reliable?.....just finished tinkering with a 6.8 ar mag to work with the x39 rounds. Need to head to the range to see if it will function.

Those are the 2nd generation C-Products mags and I haven't had any problems with them at all ... I used a Model 1 sales kit and the only problems I've had at all were light primer strikes, mostly on some old surplus ammo I had that has hard primers. I took about two thousands off the back of the bolt to allow the firing pin to strike a bit deeper and haven't had any problems with any ammo since. Some brass cased ammo I have (I think its Yugo surplus) shoots the best.

Well, I've got several of them thar AK u. AK type rafels.
Here is a "Real" AK and an FPK. FPK = PSL (the civilian version).
I've also got hard stock & folding stock semis. Don't have any photos of the semi look-a-likes.

Converted Saiga 7.62. Finally got around to installing a bullet guide so I can use Magpul's new(ish) AK PMags.

I originally made a stock for my IZ-132, to replace the cheap plastic one, with the intention of making several versions which hopefully would improve both aesthetically and ergonomically as I progressed and figured out what I wanted. However I like the feel of this first version so much I haven't bothered yet to make another and improve the looks.

I picked up a Yugo underfolder recently.



I ordered some Balkan War furniture for it.




It has a soldiers name carved in the wood. It was the soldier that was issued the original AK for that furniture.
