If you have not heard of it, the Appleseed Project is a national program put on by the RWVA (Revolutionary War Veterans Association). We are in 49 states. www.appleseedinfo.org

Appleseed brings marksmanship, heritage, and history to Americans. The course offers the fundamentals of shooting. Whether you've been shooting all your life or never touched a rifle, the program has something to offer. Appleseed is an experience like no other. My husband and I planned to attend 1 in 2009. We did, and then four more within 7 weeks. We became instructors and love it. The marksmanship portion is high quality (ask anyone who has attended one). I had shot a rifle once before going and shot expert my second weekend. The history brings our forefathers' struggle and choice for independence to life. You will hear all about April 19, 1775.

Most participants bring .22s to save on ammo. We use slings, no bipods, etc. Iron sights are encouraged, but scopes are also welcome.

You will use 400-500 rounds of ammo over the 2 days (Sat and Sun).
http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=8162.0 - this is a list of what to bring to a shoot. Don't forget about the staples and staple gun - these are needed to post targets. :)

Carrollton, Ky is this weekend. On teh border of Indiana and close to Ohio. Bring the wife and kids for a family weekend!

The Appleseed project is an awesome program no matter what your skill level. After attending I went from a good shooter to an excellent shooter. I highly reccomend it.

kyjam, no offense, but you're preaching to the choir. We've had numerous threads about it, along with comments about upcoming events.

And you'll note the thread now running about the NYT article.

Enough for now.
