The Caliber Wars! Myths Vs. Reality.

The thread is called "Caliber Wars" and we have been warring quite proficiently I might add..

Obviously I am not going to read every one of the responses, however I hope no one has claimed a .357 Mag. is an ineffective round just because it is a .30cal. That would be almost as crazy as telling someone getting shot by a 5.56x45mm NATO round at 100yd's is not as bad as getting hit by a 7.62x39mm Soviet round. Either way, it's going to hurt like hell and may kill you depending on where you get hit!

I just wanted to say that the .357 magnum is an ineffective round just because it is a .30 cal.
I am not saying this because it is true, but rather to annoy brnmeunchow.

Don't worry, nobody has said that the .357 is ineffective. I have said that for SD purposes it's inefficient compared to the recoil, capacity, and surface area of a .45, but I would stand behind a .357 in a heartbeat. I would not stand behind a .22 for SD, though, I'd be looking for something else and only use it if I didn't find anything else in time.

Thus concludes our experiment for the week into "Why caliber wars make normally civil, rational people lose their flippin' minds and rail at each other like baboons." We'd like to thank all of our study volunteers for their dedicated efforts at mimicing the behavior of enraged primates and we wish them all the best of luck for a successful return to human society.
