So I have been wanting to see a comparison between these four guns. I ran across this article today.
Heads-Up Comparison: P365 vs. Hellcat vs. MAX-9 vs. M&P9 Shield Plus - The Truth About Guns

I'd still like to see someone like Hickock 45 do a side by side comparison video. In all honesty I'm probably not buying right now but I do find myself interested in these. Maybe I should have kept the old Kel-Tec P11 I gave to a buddy a few years ago. It was reliable & shot well once you got the hang of the trigger.

That was a good article! 3 pound trigger on the Shield Plus? Yikes.

I can sum up what Hickock45 would say...

"You can't go wrong with any of these guns and they all shot fine." His videos are entertaining, but I go elsewhere for actual comparisons and serious reviews of firearms.

If you run across a good video review comparing all four of these please let me know or post it. I would like to see one.

Thanks for the link! I have been waiting for the same kind of review of all 4 guns. Jeremy S and Dan Zimmerman did a great job of identifying key features on the guns, along with their good points and not so good ones as well and what that might mean to prospective buyers who are on the fence as to which one they should get.

This was the impression I got a while back, when I could still buy all the ammo I could load & carry in the trunk of my car. I tried out a P365 alongside my Walther PPS-M2, which I’ve now had for 5 years and about 5K rounds through it. In my case I’d become so familiar and used to the Walther that it wasn’t a fair comparison to begin with.

I kind of ran out and bought a Shield Plus without shooting any of the other three. It should come as no surprise that a big part of that is the fact that I've been awfully, awfully happy with my Shield 1.0. Now if I can just find some danged backup mags for the Plus....

Still, that was a good article. Thanks for sharing.

Hickok is better for entertainment and less for information. All that mag dumping with free ammo gets old pretty quickly.

Not for me. I'll take that over rock music, showing extreme shooting in tactical gear followed by some talking head yakking about this or that being bad or good when it's all completely subjective.

At least Hickok will do size comparisons, is amusing, doesn't seem full of himself and I personally never get tired of watching him ring the gong with pistols.

Him and Paul Harrel are all I watch for "gun vids".

I have watched enough of his videos to know he will not come right out & bad mouth a gun. He also will not edit out any malfunctions he has while filming the videos & he will even mention any others he has had shooting it whether it happened on video or not. He will also make remarks that give information about things he likes & dislikes. While he wont call a gun a piece of crap there is information there but you do have to pay attention & listen closely.

I agree. I still like Hickok but he’s gone way too Hollywood. Maybe Hollywood isn’t the right word but I miss him shooting bowls of his own reloads instead of having cases of free ammo and other loot(couldn’t he at least pony up the $20 for his Talon Grips?) delivered right to his door. And the guns from Buds that he gets to shoot for free with free ammo(I wonder if he even pays the transfer fee?) and then send back and some dope pays more for the gun in an auction?

I can't think of a more horrible gun then the P11, hated mine! Of the guns you listed, I carried a P365 SAS, and it is 10X the pistol that the P11 is. Traded it for a NIB P239 9mm, kinda started to hate the bulls eye sight on it.....

    Serious question:. Why?

He is able to shoot the guns more, shoot and show off more guns, and his range is a little upgraded. Oh, and he will sometimes have more loaded mags. Sure, he throws a quick read for his sponsor occasionally.

I can't say I recall his content really being any different between those days and currently. Is it just a case of "I dont like this guy cause he went corporate" that musicians go through so often with their "old school" fans?

That made me laugh... thanks. You do realize that the last line of the OP's article is "They’re all great guns."

For the record IMHO Hickock gives a pretty unvarnished view of the guns. Good, bad and ugly.

Like I said earlier, I personally think Hickok’s videos are entertaining more than they are informative. The fact that he can hit the gong and then the steel pig & jackass targets at 25 yards (or whatever) with a Sig P365 from Bud’s is fun to watch. And the exploding soda bottles are always a crowd favorite (LOL). But (IMHO) I surely can’t get or afford the ammo to mag dump those targets at those distances with some of the guns that are featured. And I have heard less than positive feedback from one of his sponsors (nuff said there). Although Balistol is an excellent product, I have never had good results with Talon grips, they have never stayed in place for me. IMHO, the Falcon grips sold by Glockstore is a better product, in my own personal experience. Strictly MHO here though.

I made some changes to the P-11 I had. When I got it mags wouldn’t drop free so I sanded inside the magwell. I heated the trigger & changed it’s shape so it wasn’t so sharply curved. There was a guy on KTOG that sold metal mag catches. I put one of them in. It worked pretty well & was accurate. The trigger was still horrible though & it felt cheap so I got something else & gave it to a friend. I always seem to look for a better mousetrap.

It just bugs me a little. Not enough to stop watching, but I think he was more relatable when he rolled his own ammo and mentioned trading for more mags or buying a box or two of .38 a year since he only owns his 642 and 640 and doesn't reload .38. I wonder if he's touched his reloading bench in the last 5 years. Seeing non-stop freebies just doesn't resonate with me. Bet you he has cases of Ballistol just sitting around. It's gonna get to a point that somebody comes to clean his guns for him, too.

By the way, I think I like hrfunk a bit better. He answers every comment posted on his video's and I like his Livestream broadcasts, too. He answers questions directly on those. I just find him more relatable.

HRFunk is a member on another gun forum and is a super nice guy and very intelligent. He is a former Marine, likely officer, likely a former Eagle Scout, and is as stiff, no nonsense, and Just-The-Facts-Ma'am as you can get. His reviews of a firearm are very thorough and factual.

I think the Demolition Ranch guy is his punk kid who never got a job and is rebelling against the straight-laced father, lol.

Or the pretty boy with the tight T-shirt, or the Yankee guy...

Reviewers I can’t watch even if I agree with them.

I swapped 7 of my p22xs out of rotation (still own them) for p365s a couple of years ago. My shooting was still as accurate and I saved 3/4 lb and some significant size on my daily carry. Thousands of rds, zero problems, completely happy with my p365s. I have the SAS, a few standard and a couple of XLs without optics and a couple of XLs with optics. It's all good.
