The First Pistol you bought.

When I turned 21, I had a pretty good job, cheap rent and no expenses except for TV dinners and beer so I got a new (this was the early 80's) stainless S&W 686 with 6" barrel. I was heavily influenced by my best friend who planned to do a lot of handgun hunting for pigs and coyotes, but it only took a couple of outings for me to realize that I needed a lot more field time before I'd be ready to hunt with a handgun. The 686 was a thing of beauty and had a nice trigger, but being young, I got bored with it and sold it to a coworker who planned to use it as a home defense gun. I didn't feel right not owning a handgun, but couldn't think of anything I really wanted, so I picked up a new blue S&W Model 10 snubbie in .38 spl just so that I'd have something.

I was an idiot to sell the 686, but I still have the Model 10 - it's a blast (literally) to shoot at the range and new shooters like it because it's simple, smooth, and looks and feels "right".

FEG PA-63. Accurate, hurt my hands, had issues with the ejector eventually and FTF on a lot of different ammo. Sold it, picked up a Kahr MK9e and have had good luck with it since.

The first pistol I ever bought was a MarkIV Series 70 Colt,in 45 ACP.Still have it,and it still shoots great.Been over 25 years.

ruger kmk512 mk II stainless that my dad put on his permit for me when i was 19. now i have my paperwork filed and am just waiting to here back. i cant decide between a springfield loaded and a gp100 4in stainless.

Kimber Custom Target II. I’ve made a few changes since that picture, Hogue grips, adjustable night sights, and a Wilson Mag Well. Love it death, great shooting and a lot of fun! :D

Smith 422, 6" barrel. It was the right price, and not a bad little gun. Taught me a lot about handgun shooting, sight picture, trigger control, etc.

Beretta 9000s 9mm.

I liked it but the grip was too fat and it didn't fit my hand very well. Traded it in for a GLOCK 19.

Star Super chamber in 9mm Largo.

I didn't know anything about guns at the time and a cop friend sold it to me for dirt cheap. This was back when they could buy guns that they got from the crooks for really cheap.
Then one day I learned that Largo is not the standard 9mm and that it is no longer made. (I know you can still buy surplus but didn't want to deal with it for this particular gun). I kept it for a few years and then traded it off for something I'd use more often.

First Hand gun that was given to me was my Beretta Jaguar.22lr

First handgun I bought when I turned 21: Springfield XD40 Sub-Compact. (40s&w)

First one I actually bought myself was 32 years ago, a Ruger Standard Auto when I was 16. If I remember correctly it was about $70. Still have it today, great little pistol, shoots as good today as it did 32 years and countless bricks ago.

70 series Gold Cup bought in 1985. I have small hands and the 1911 fits my hand very well. Alas, I was too busy chasing women at that age and wasn't shooting much. A friend admired it greatly, so I sold it to him. :(

Ruger P89. Pretty good gun, but way too blocky (and mediocre trigger) for what it was.

Sold it to partially fund my first BHP - and have never regretted it.

:D

Heh, exact same for me. First handgun I bought was a P89, was reliable, but awful trigger. Traded it in toward a Hi Power. Never looked back.

box stock Colt govt mdl in .45acp of course, and NIB. that was in the mid fifties. i still have it and it has never failed me. all that gorgeous blue is long gone as it has been carried many miles and fired untold K of military brown box ball. many other guns have graced my gun cases since then, but i think this is about our 50th anniversary year and there is a never ending love between us. so, what is this?, true confession time. ha

My first gun was a Browning High Power (BHP) Mark II 9mm. I purchased it because it fit my small hands/fingers perfectly. The only other semi-auto that fits it so well are the Kahr series semi-autos.

My BHP has been to Cylinder and Slide for modest custom work and to Trijicon for a set of night sights. The gun has gone through thousands of rounds and two trips for training at Massad Ayoob's Lethal Force Institute. It was also my first carry gun.

I still own that BHP and I don't intend to give her up.

I remember it well. I was 14 years old and my dad had to fill out the paperwork. It was a Arminius HW7 .22LR with spare cylinder in .22 Magnum. 6 inch vent rib barrel. I paid $80 out the door. Naturally I broke the trigger return spring in 7 months time and wore that blueing off in a year..Yeah I know junky gun but I was just learning...The next gun I bought was a Nickel plated S&W Model 27 with a six inch barrel .357 magnum. That was a few months later and I bought it at a flea market. I recollect that was around $190. Now that was a beauty and it shot great. Tim
