The First Pistol you bought.

When they first came out; a Glock 17, but didn't keep it long. Back then they came in a plastic "Tupperware" box. Inside the box was a tapered post designed to squeeze the trigger; I had my 17 loaded one time (luckily I remembered the box' feature at the last moment) and came within about a millimeter of shooting myself right in the chest... Scared the c_ap out of me!! Anyway, for some reason, I just don't like plastic guns. Just my .02 cents...

My first pistol was a Glock 30. I wanted a .45 for concealed carry, and I got a good deal on it. I ended up selling it and buying a Springfield 1911 - much thinner gun & much better trigger.

The first gun I bought was a Star BM, in nice condition. I still have it, and except for the weight (yow!), it's as nice as any small 9mm pistol and a very accurate shooter. These days, I am more likely to carry the alloy-framed cousins, either a BKM (same thing but lighter) or a .45 PD. (Yeah, I'm a real tough cookie!)
They are not high-tech guns and the lockwork is quite simple, but I like them. They don't require a rocket scientist to keep 'em clean and working.

I bought my first pistol as soon as I could (just turning 21 years old).
I had wanted a S&W Combat Magnum since I was a teenager, so on my 21st birthday, I marched into my local Montgomery Wards store and over to their sporting goods counter. (Anyone starting to guess how old I am? )

I plunked my money down on a brand new Model 19 w/6" barrel and walked away (no Instacheck then  ) with a smile on my face.
I ended up adding to the "collection" soon, so while I probably put 8 or 10 boxes of ammo through it, I tended to want to baby it so I mostly shot the other pistols I bought after that.

That was in 1971, and it's still sitting in it's original box, in new condition, in my safe, just waiting for me to pick it up and wipe on a new coat of oil once in a while.

They say you never forget your first, so there you are.
As far as my other "first", her name was Sharon or Cheryl or something like that... whatever.

Hi all! I'm a first time poster long time lurker. :) My first rifle was a Marlin model 60, and my first pistol was a Beretta U22 Neos 22LR. Since then Ive aquired a few others.

Bersa .380
686 .357
Walther P22
Springfield XD 9

Great reading all your posts and learned alot from them.

My first gun is a Jericho 941F in an all black finish. One of the best guns I've shot. Somebody offered 30% more for what I paid for it (he is so desperate), I'm so human I sold it to him. :p

A Browning Hi Power - Walnut & Blued Steel back in 1989. It was my only handgun for quite a while. A few years ago I came to my senses and realized I needed more :)

Still have my first handgun, bought this one to celebrate being old enough to acquire a handgun, 21st birthday gift to myself. Debated whether I should spend $400 for a Nazi marked Luger or this .22 caliber Stoeger knockoff...(sigh)...one of the mistakes of my youth, should have gotten the 9mm, would have been worth five times the original selling price.

My first gun was a "sweet" Davis .380. It ONLY jammed every other shot! Bought it for $65 bucks or so and then sold it to a "friend" for around $90. That was a true Saturday Night Special.

First Pistol I ever bought - Ruger P90 in 1994. Still have it, still shoot it regularly, and I love it.

First Pistol I ever owned - My dad gave me a blued bull-barrel MkII several years ago. I ended up selling that one to my buddy here just about 2 years ago and bought another MkII with a bull-barrel only in stainless from my dad to replace it.

First Pistol I ever shot - Ruger Bearcat. Man, I loved that little gun. I first shot it when I was about 6 or 7 (I am 33 now), and while not a sentimental man about most things, I wish my dad had never sold that particular gun.

Jeez... looking at this list, is it any surprise that I love Ruger so?

For some reason this computer at school won't perform the "copy/paste" function, but above a guy mentioned his "other" firsts and he said "Sharon or Cheryl or something like that"... That made me laugh. I bought my P90 before I got married, I owned while I was married, and I have it now instead of a wife... lol

!st pistol.

Star 38 Super..Ex Step-father was giving Mom lots of difficulties. And I was three states away.

The issue resolved itself. Ex Step-father moved on to greener and younger pastures.

salty.

My first pistol I bought was a used S&W model 629-1, 8 3/8" barrel, 44 Mag. I was only 19 at the time and had to have my friends wife buy it for me. That was 15 years ago and I still love shooting it. :D

My first gun was a Glock 17. It sounded like a good pistol for beginners, and our local police department uses Glocks (in .40 S&W). I've since moved on to the 10x25mm cartridge, so I sold it. I don't regret it at all since I have a Glock 20 & 29.

I shot .45acp on a competition pistol team in the service so when I got out I started looking for a good 1911 style semi-auto. While browsing through a gunstore I ran across a Smith & Wesson Model 25 in .45acp......moon clips and all. I have always had a sweet spot for the large frame Smiths so I did some negotating with the owner and bought it. I must have burned 10,000 rounds of .45acp and .45 auto rim ammo through it before selling it to a good friend of mine. He still has and shoots it today.

My first handgun will always be remembered fondly!!!
