The much maligned Taurus has shown a turn around, at least in my experience. I don't own a Taurus G2, but have fired three different ones two of them extensively. The trigger you have to get used to. Kind of like the Ruger LCP .380. As far as malfunctions, there have been none, The Taurus TX22 is a wonder. A double column .22 with a sixteen round magazine that is reliable (2200 rounds, one malfunction, probably the ammunition) and accurate. The grip is outstanding. Back to the OP, I think I would look for a Shield in 9MM. Again, you have to get used to the trigger. It's not bad, just different. 9MM is cheap so you'll probably practice more. There are sooo many choices out there. Good Luck.
