Well I finally got those Walther P1s out of Gander Mountain.

The ad they ran advertised these on sale for $249.99 ea (P1, holster, 2 mags, cleaning kit and 100 rnd box of Win. white box 9mm). They were also running a special of another 10% off if you used their new credit card to purchase.

Of course they didn't have any, nor did they know about the deal when I went there over 2 weeks ago. So I persisted and had the store manager involved in getting me a couple of them (1 for my son for an Xmas gift). He finally issued me rainchecks on them (also w/10% off for CC) where they would call me if/when they came in. But after 2 weeks I thought it was a lost cause.

Well, I went there Sat and asked about them (as I have each weekend since) and guess what - they had 3 units in but never bothered to call!

But as the "Bard" says: "All's well that ends well" and the photo is what I got. Came to $225 ea. and Tax, + I got an LED flashlight and a Gander cap for enrolling for the new card. Also got 481 of the 500 CC points required to get a $25 merchandise coupon.

Not bad when you consider the first 2 P1s that I got and the first 2 that my son got were $265 and $308 ea. respectively for gun & holster and 2 mags only. These came to $241 ea after Tax and I got all the goodies to boot! :D

The sale runs to Nov 1st, so if your Gander has any, ya better go tonight instead of trick-or-treat!

Nice find, RonJon. I got a post-war P38 (1963) from Gander Mountain a few weeks back when they had the special. I can't tell if yours have the reinforcement hex in the frame? After my purchase, I called Gander again to see if any of their Walthers had that feature, but was told none of them did.

They both have the hex reinforcement.

They are 4/82 and 7/82 dated on the slides.

Not bad at all, I had to pay $250 for one in mid 2003 with one mag but with a leather holster and no ammo. And what a nice dad to give so nice of a Christmas gift!

    I just had to! ;)

My son also is a collector and his favorite of all semi-auto pistols is the Walther P1!
