Finally got around to updating my first build I did 10 years ago...though it pretty much turned into a whole new rifle lol
Love the lightweight Seekins handguard that went on over the new Faxon 18" barrel. Looking forward to the next range trip!

This is my version of the Gordon Carbine. It is by no means a clone but it suits my purposes.

I built this one for the Texas Chrome Hereo’s Fountain. It was auctioned off and went for $8000.

Figured I'd add a more current picture.

Having a little fun with Cerakote. I didn’t think gold would look good but I have to admit I like it. It’s for the ex wife’s ex husband (not me) and the purple one is for a buddy’s wife. The Benelli tan is mine. All Anderson lowers, BCA uppers, nothing extravagant, just range toys. 3B6E2717-0CAF-4CEA-B769-CBB7A171BAD4.png 27DE1A8B-D655-4820-A266-1A838586735D.jpeg CD1513D5-D79B-46A6-B929-54D3A03E1E8D.jpeg

Hi my name is Matt and I might have a problem....

    IMG_3420.jpg

I swear I only went to the gun store for some small parts......

That led to picking up two new lowers. One is for a sort of retroish Dissipator A2 build and the M4E1 is for a coyote calling rifle build.

Finally got a lower built for my Alexander Arms 50 Beowulf upper (with MI handguard). I went with a brushed finish on this one. I was installing an A2 grip when the safety detent spring decided to play hide and seek. I heard it hit cardboard. So i look in a box and, hey, a new Hogue grip! And the spring!

Well the Dissipator is done...I used some old OD Green A2 furniture I have had forever and parts form various projects. Keeping with the overall theme of solid and simple, I threw in a ALG QMS and it is pretty good. The fin grip is for compliance but is easily swappable when I leave the state or if the 9th Circuit ever gets around to reviewing Miller v. Bonta. Either way it is a nice and simple carbine. Hopefully I will be up to the desert in a couple of weeks to shoot it.

    IMG_3422.jpg

I will save the M4E1 for another weekend.

Is the gas going through the FSB or a lo-pro block under the handguards?

Lo-pro under the handguards. It is a carbine length gas system, I wanted mid-length, but the carbine is actually working out pretty good. Shot the upper on another lower a few weeks ago. Of course having an upper without a corresponding lower was just too much to deal with. I need to stop. But it is hard.

Lol i had 3 uppers and one lower for quite a while... Now i have 6 uppers each with their own lower. And im in the planning stages of a custom straight pull bolt action AR upper in possibly 256 winchester magnum (357 mag necked to .257). Uses the same bolt face as the Grendel or x39 depending on depth i need. Of course this will likely require a custom barrel because ive never seen one in 256 WM.

I always really liked the idea of a 256WM on an appropriate sized repeater action.

Can't say I ever thought to do it on an AR.

I almost got an M1 Carbine Ferrett a while back which is chambered in 256 WM. I got a set of dies a number of months ago and just got some 60gr 257 projectiles in with a lot of 257 roberts sized ones.

Ive pondered a contender barrel but they seem to go for a decent premium. I started thinking of a bolt action based on the AR in an odd caliber. A 7.62x39 mag, with a spacer block and built in feed ramp might just work. And 357 mag shares a rim diameter of .440 with all cases based on the 220 Russian.

I have a Marlin 62 Levermatic in .256 and it is a hoot.

That would be amazing if you pull off an AR build!

Buddy mentioned he had a LNIB Sylvan Arms folder in his parts box after he picked up a LAW folder.

So now I have a Sylvan Arms folder:
