Did a bunch of up drills (dry fire) with this weapon today. My work gun is similarly outfitted with a LPVO but of much lesser quality. Muscle memory is close enough to translate :)

Our local sheriff’s office (A good-sized agency, authorized at around 1,400 sworn) has been running the Mini-14 in patrol cars since the 1980’s. My office has used them since the mid-1990’s. Obviously the terminal effects on the suspect would be identical with both the AR-15 and Mini-14 in 5.56/.223, but the more ergonomic and versatile AR finally won out for us over the trusty old standby.

We ended up trading the Mini’s in to the Arizona-based dealer who brokered the AR purchase and we were allowed to individually buy the trade ins back at their cost. I picked up this unissued and unfired (by us) Mini for right around $400 bucks OTD.

It goes nicely with the 1990’s era .223 Ranch Rifle and 7.62x39 Mini-30 I also have.

    Stay safe.

The AR15 is awesome but I have always liked the Mini-14 as well. Mine have always been reliable and decently accurate. The 580 series shoots much better than my 180 series. I have never felt under armed with a Mini-14. RM - you got a great deal!

Looks great! Have you had a chance to shoot it yet?
If not, let us know if it shoots as nicely as it looks.

I will this coming weekend. Excited about the Rise Armament drop in trigger too.

The bottom pick is my old Ruger AR556.

And I didn't see so far an AR variants or AR-10/large frame thread but if there is one, please let me know and I will edit/remove this AR-10 photo:

Here's one I built as a MSR take on 1894 30/30 it's a 16" Faxon barreled 350 Legend, the scope is an older Leupold VX Hog 1-4X and the suppressor is a Torrent T9K using a Griffin Plan A taper lock/ minimalist brake. It ended up at a svelt 7.5# with the can and empty mag. 20220324_150458.jpg

Armalite lower. 20” Proof Carbon barrel .223 Wylde, LaRue MBT 2 stage trigger, Magpul PRS stock, Duplin bipod, Leupold L/RT 4.5-14x50 scope.

Set up to shoot in NRA AR Tactical matches, but with an Atlas bipod and no-eared rear bag

20221024_193122.jpg I think I'm close to being done with this one. Switched from a CT 1-5X series 3 to the US Optics TS 8X 1-8X and switched to MBUS Pro offsets. About the only thing I'm even considering is a dedicated can.

B&T has a 5.56 can that's really affordable that I'm heavily considering that looks real nice. Mounts on standard A2 flash hiders too.

It's already got a Griffin Paladin taper mount brake on it. I was thinking of getting a YHM Turbo or Turbo k and putting a Griffin Plan A adapter in it.
Probably offset the cost selling the YHM QD set up.

I really am impressed by the variety of the GA mounts.

It's not why I bought a GA can, but in hindsight I'm real glad I did. I can put my bushwhacker on everything
