Spent a lot of great days in the field with this old gun. 700, 30-06. Still good for many more.

.338 Win Mag built on '98 style action by David Miller. A few times (3 or 4) it's the only rifle I've taken to Africa because it has been excellent all purpose rifle and caliber. In trophy gallery pic it's the sable on right.

What's the rifle on the bottom? Does that bolt have some sort of helical twist design or am I just seeing some sort of effect? Looks like an SDS or masonry bit.

Savage Lightweight Hunter 223. The tan one is another Lightweight Hunter in 6.5 Creedmoor. They have fluted bolts. Top is a 6.5 PRC Christensen Mesa. Below the 6.5 Creed is a Ruger 257 Roberts UL. Then a Nosler 6 Creed. Second from the bottom is a Remington 5R HS Precision 223.

.25/06 built around a Pre-64 M-70 action by master custom stockmaker Bob Winter. Leupold 3.5-10X50 makes this a fine long range rifle and .25/06 is hard to beat for pronghorn...

Look on the bright side. Till several years back we were limited to a shotgun with a pumpkin ball (slug) or a muzzle loader. That is why I primarily hunted W. Virginia. Ohio and several adjacent states opening up to any type rifle was a big deal.

Wife with kongoni taken on safari in Tanzania. Rifle is 7x57 built by the late Al Bieson, a legendary maker of classic style hunting rifles. The 7X57 is ideal for much of African game and is a favorite of many old time African professional hunters, and has been the only rifle I've taken on a couple of African hunts. The kongoni is one of the fleetest of African antelope.

This was one of 2 cats taken with the same rifle on the same day.. kind of a remarkable day, too. They were a mating pair, female was around 100 lbs, this tom was 120. We might have save a hundred deer in one day...
