I figure someone said something about this movie months ago, when came up. But I don't have all day to do the search, and I just watched it.

This movie came out on DVD today and I got that and "Eastern Promises."

I thought the movie was really good. And although a few problems with guns (unlimited ammo in one scene) were present. The movie was nice.

I don't let movie mistakes ruin a movie for me. So, I give this movie two thumbs up. Lots of action and it's good.

Definitely worth buying.

Merry Christmas

P.S. Next up: "Eastern Promises".

Seemed like a typical Mann flick IMO (even though he didnt direct it). A little boring at times, but too good to turn off. Not as much action as I was expecting, but enough to keep me satisfied.

I liked it. I'll probably buy it.

I just bought "The Kingdom" too. The one thing I thought was a little off was in the "drive-by's" in the beginning through the US neighborhood. The shooter had an M4 and it showed the rounds going through the front of the house, and blowing straight through the back of the house. A little exaggerated, no?

I thought The Kingdom was seriously awesome and Foxx is an actor that as come into his own. The rest of the cast did great, including Jennifer Garner who has finally redeemed herself from Electra. The dude from Arrested Development, who I've always considered silly, came out as solid too... his fighting when many would have given up and given in... that was awesome. I especially liked the directing, which gave it that "Your Are There Too" feeling. Made the move all the more visceral and alive. It wasn't a movie made for a dumb audience.

I'm sorry but Jennifer Garner cannot act but she didn't do too bad in The Kingdom. It was a decent movie but was a bit exaggerated like someone else said.

Eastern Promises was horrible. I could only watch like 45 minutes of it. The plot was horrible and so was the acting. Definitely not purchasing material in my opinion.

It sucks to hear bad reviews about Eastern Promises. I had high hopes for that one and was gonna buy it when it came out on the 1st. Maybe I'll just rent it.

I really liked Eastern Promises

Except of course, no gun fights.
I was gonna rent Kingdom because J Garner had a properly indexed finger
on the cover.
When an action flick shows "experts" with no finger control, it ruins the movie.
They were out of the movie so next week I guess.

Re: Eastern Promises: The one fight scene with all the gratuitous penis shots was pretty intense. In the theater, the woman behind me almost threw up when someone's eyeball was taken out with a knife.

I enjoyed it, but then I enjoy most anything with organized crime overtones.

I thought Eastern Promises was excellent. If you're looking for a pure action movie,it's not for you.If your idea of what makes a good movie is the number of John Woo POL dump explosions, you're going to be disappointed.I prefer gritty to wow factor.

The Kingdom was well done,at least better than I expected it to be.The cinematography was actually quite good and that's what I liked best about it.

Other than the Saudi with the M4 that had no rear sight, I did not notice any glaring gun mistakes. I liked all the 552's they had in that movie but they were not shooting them unforunately.

Actually, some guy's don't use rear sights. I believe some of the Mossad don't use them.

I think Jeff Cooper said something along the lines of, "Blessed is the man who uses only his front sight tip."

The only problems I saw, and there might be more, but I was sort of doing two things at once, not just watching the movie was:

1.) The two terrorists in the beginning who were shooting and driving the car never reloaded.

2.) .223 rounds penetrating houses.

But I don't let things like that ruin movies for me.

I think my bro watches movies like Star Wars and goes, this movie's horrible, there's not such things as Wookies!!!!!! (Damn Killjoy. LOL)

Eastern Promises: Good movie. HOWEVER, not any action in it. Besides one scene. It's more of a drama. So if your looking for action, this is NOT the movie. If I had seen it before, it's worth a rental, maybe, not worth buying.

What is cool is that you get an insight into what the Russian Mob is like and how forward progress and advancement has sort of been halted in Russia. Like there 30 years behind rest of the world.

I've never enjoyed any penis shots.

But whatever floats your boat.

LOL. J/K.

That scene was crazy. I'd hate to be in that situation. Luckily it doesn't happen much at the o'l Lifetime Fitness.

I shot up a house slated for demolition once. Typical farm house intact except for the roof. .22 rimfire from a 10-22 , ten rounds. Six blew through the front wall, interior wall, and out the back wall. Four hit studs and were stopped. A .223 FMJ probably wouldn't have noticed the walls.

If jeff cooper said "blessed is the man who only uses his front sights" my instincts tell me he was A) refering to the handgun, B) planning on having a 2nd half that read 'because only with God's help will you hit a distant opponent, C) didn't include the word ONLY, as in, especially for handguns, when the SHTF, it is easy to totally point shoot, remembering just your front sight will help loads in accuracy

The SEALS completely removed the sights from their M60's when they chopped them up and aimed by instinct.

Instinct doesn't drop targets. Bullets that hit drop targets. Sights are there for a reason.

You'd be surprised at what won't stop a relatively underpowered centerfire round like the .223... Unless you get your ballistic data from the A-Team reruns...

If someone is loaded with FMJ, I want a whole lot of dirt between me and them. Notice I didn't say "tree" or "brick."
