The Loyal Order of Old Timers Vintage Revolver Society.

Just a couple, per the OP rules. The first is an old stainless M&P in .38 Special that I have dated to 1953. My parent's house gun. Nothing special, but serviceable and a neat little gun that means a lot to me.

The other is an old post-war K22 Masterpiece that I have dated to 1947. I actually think it shoots just a tad better than the much newer Colt King Cobra .22 Target I picked up, so technically it is my "best" .22 handgun - semi or revolver.

I am a little surprised I don't have more. My maternal grandmother had a very old M&P that was from the 1920's (give or take). She used to ask me to give it the occasional spin; somehow it got outside the family unfortunately. Definitely stayed with standard pressure .38 Special for that gun...

I should also post my 3" 38spl 1920s HE.View attachment 1219542
I found it on GB and won the auction. View attachment 1219544
Someone had some interesting custom work done on it.

It has a rear sight.
Shortened barrel.
Buffed and blued.

I am thrilled with it. Much more than I expected.
I would like to find an appropriate authentic styled holster and grips....maybe a Tyler grip adapter too.
A pair of services grips and a grip adapter would look great on that. For holsters id look into a tom threepersons style holster.

The Model 10 snubbie is from 1960 or so. Forgive me for showing the picture so often.

The H&R is from the early 1900's. The one pictured is actually a "parts" gun that sort of works, and I have a functional one from the same era that "works so far".

I don't think it's possible to show pics of snubby model 10's to often. From the looks of that revolver it has some stories to tell.

If a Three Screw Ruger counts as "vintage" or "old timer" I can show these two:

Left is a Three Screw Super Blackhawk my daughter gave me in 1979 after the death of my son-in-law. The .357 Flat Top Blackhawk I bought in 1958 while I was at Camp Roberts, California as a young soldier. Both hae been worked over by Dave Clements and Doug Turnbull. Grips by Cary Chapman of CLC grips. (CLC now no longer in business.)

Bob Wright

P.S. Not particularly interested in vintage revolvers, just good revolvers.

The only real old revolver I have is this ugly old Colt New Army, 1905 vintage. It belonged to my great grandfather, dunno how long he had it. I remember when I was a kid hearing my grandmother tell my dad a story of how great grandpa shot a hole thru the bathroom wall with it. He didn't want my grandmother to know what happened so he tried to cover his tracks by filling the hole with soap peeled off the bar and stuffed in the hole. He almost got away with it. I think this thing was last fired around 1997, we had a box of 41 Long ammo and let it rip.
I have no desire to even try it now. 20230516_171714.jpg

OK, I'm in. From the oldest to the newest:

1877 Colt Lightning, shipped in 1897. It's in really sad condition.

Two top breaks. The actual year is unknown, but both are pre-1920. At right a H&R Hammerless in . 32 S&W, on the left, a Spanish made top break in .38 S&W.

This S&W K38 Combat Masterpiece is from either very late 1950, or very early 1951. I have the original grips, but I like the smaller classic grips better. Great shooting gun.

Last but not least a 1956 Colt Officer's Model Match. Easily one of the most accurate guns I own.

If you will allow me to indulge in a little story.
The year was circa 1980 give or take a year.
My dad and I finished cultivating soybeans with our tractors well after sundown. We had been working towards a goal of attending the Michigan state trapshoot for a week.
We made it back to the house and loaded up our guns and gear, got cleaned up, washing off the night bugs that are drawn to the headlights of an open station tractor. He and I piled in the car and left home around 11pm.
We stopped for a burger in Brazil, Indiana at the 24hr T/A truckstop. The next thing I remember was waking up in Lansing Michigan at their State ATA grounds.
We shot well, and brought home some hardware. I think I won some Jr trophies and some yardage trophies....pretty sure some are in my mancave right now. I remember meeting Hal DuPont of DuPont chemicals, and the Budweiser Representative who sponsored some trophies. I was young and dumb and didn't realize yet how hard it was to break clay pigeons.
After dark we got a motel and nearby there was a theater playing a brand new movie....RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK....
We went. The only movie I ever remember watching with my dad....except "Battle of the Bulge" on TV.
Indiana Jones had a 45acp N frame S&W that he used on a villain or two.
That set the stage for this thread.
I am still seeking a 45acp 3" S&W.
Someday!
MY...
Holy GRAIL!
(But that's another movie isn't it!)

What a great idea for a thread....well done Armored!!
Best regards, Rod
....here are some of mine....

~ 1920's Colt Police Positive in Colt .38 New Police....the target was shot with pre-WWll ammunition.
It was my Uncle Bill's Bethleham Steel gate guard side arm.
Returning from WWll following a tour as a CB on Guadalcanal, he resumed his post in Buffalo.
It was the first handgun I ever shot.

Smith 4th variation Hand Ejector in .32-20 from 1938
Found it at a Louisville, KY gun show in the '90's.
At $325, I thought it was pretty expensive for an old gun.
Come to find out it was just about "As New" condition.
It's been a fine shooter over the years,
& nicely complimented my vintage Winchester 92 also in .32-20.

This last one isn't so old....1966 in fact but it's in my favorite caliber: the incomparable .41 Magnum.
It's a 3-screw Ruger Blackhawk...with a 4-didgit serial number.
The stocks are my own....pieced from old Poplar fencing here off the farm.

There are plenty of threads, and images, of the TWO revolvers used in that movie. (edit. Of the TWO S&W revolvers, he also used a Wesley). I believe both were 4” revolvers.

Here is mine, bottom left, with some more modern counterparts.

(Bottom right is still my edc, replacing bottom left.)

Some references to Indy’s revolver,

I wasn't sure if I should post this pic, but in consideration against my age, they are vintage.....

IMG_9024.jpg

From top to bottom:

14-3
K22
36-3 Nickle
624
29-2
27-2
27-2

It's funny how a Ruger revolver guy has accumulated so many Smith's but love the quality of the older guns.

I left out my 65 and 19 so I guess I will have to retake the family photo.

Great idea for a post @Armored farmer and I hope I did not break the rules too bad.
