Cartridge stop?
I don't have my rifle in front of me, but the way I remember it the cartridge stop IS a spring.
When it moves, the springiness of the stop it's self is what makes it return.
Sometimes, they get bent a little and can merely be straightened.
Other times, they get bent in such a way that the other moving parts in there chew on the stop and wear it out of shape. In this case replacement is needed.
These rifles are pretty simple, and often a gentle tweaking of the parts will return it to proper operation.
