What price range are we talking about when considering a Mateba? any dimension or caliber...

I know, I know; I ask it, I can't afford it. But go ahead, I'd just like to know

The company has been out of business for some time and leftover stock, according to AWA, has stopped trickling into the US. Also I have been told Sergio Mateba's father has passed and his mother is sick, I don't think we'll be seeing these ever again.

I would say $1500+ from here on out. All the Mateba revolvers that used to sit around and languish on Gunbroker are no longer there. Only the 18" oddball carbines are listed, and someone was listing a sequentially serial numbered 4/6/8" 357 set for $3500+. It did not sell so the auction has been broken up into three individual auctions with a $1200 starting price.

I feel fortunate enough to have picked one up before they all dried up.

Better than me and remarkably accurate even at my low marksmanship level.
Recoil on it is very manageable and it points very naturally. I shot a ported Ruger Super Redhawk just minutes earlier when the guy next to me wanted to try swapping to feel the differences. The Mateba is definitely more of a push-recoil than a muzzle-rise recoil. At first, I had no idea what to expect, but I got progressively faster with it near the end of the 100 round break-in as I got more daring. Also, being my first revolver, I learned that aluminum cases are Lesson learned. I didn't feel much difference with the compensator/brake on it. I actually ordered a spare and chopped off the ported segment to make myself a thread protector.

I did have one issue with it, I've contacted the importer to see how to resolve it. Barrel shroud got loose and I am not exactly sure what needs to be tightened up to resolve that. We'll find out soon though. I can't think of it something that serious, this thing is simultaneously built like a tank and a fine mechanical watch.

The guy on GunBroker, ColtMan, got the last of the Mateba imports from AWA. AWA, however, still has the spare parts. I've got a Mateba .44mag and I need to contact them and get some spares of the little screw that goes into the trigger guard.

The gun itself is great. If I could afford it I'd buy another, plus a Grifone carbine.

Get spare parts, if you can. I only managed to get a spare 44 recoil spring from AWA and the scope mount shipped with my 44. I was hoping for a "rebuild kit". They said that they expect the shipment they got last month to probably be the last batch of parts ever.

Also my problem is resolved, the barrel backed off a bit, which clamps the shroud to the body. Loctite and a torque wrench fixed that!
