Sadly enougbh, there are still a lot of people who believe those statements.
I have a carry permit here in NC. We have many restrictions on where and how we can carry one is the "posted sign" restriction. The mall here in Fayetteville posts such a sign (no guns allowed) on all the entrances to the mall. Three days ago a young woman was shoot in the mall by a supposedly dropped handgun that was, also supposedly in the pocket of her boyfriend's jacket. In today's paper story says that NO CHARGES WILL BE FILED 
because the police can't say who had the gun and the woman who was shot doesn't want to press the case. Of course the local news TV has only talked about THE GUN IN THE MALL, nothing at all that none of those who could have been in possession of the handgun had a CCP. Nothing that the handgun was being carried illegally in the first place by persons who are all under 21 YOA. BMA!!!!!

Yup! I was amazed they didn't chagre him with anything. Especially since the Father of the young lady was very vocal about having the guy arrested.
That Nuke sign needs to be posted outside Chapel Hill. They have a town ordinance that makes the town a 'nuclear weapons free zone'!

She refused to press charges and the police can not prove who was in possession of the weapon at the time, regardless of who it belonged to. So any good lawyer would get it thrown out of court.
