I hadn't seen, or handled, any Rossi revolver in probably 30 years.

But I looked at a Rossi M-64 today (4" .357, blued). Although I didn't care for the white laser-etched logo on the sideplate, the bluing looked pretty good.

Two things struck me. I asked the counter gal if I could pull the trigger, so I tried it in both modes. Holy cow! Smooth DA and a very crisp SA.

The other thing that struck me was the revolver has an actual hammer-mounted firing pin. Yikes! How'd they sneak this in? I love this feature.

I may buy one (the price is stupid low). Don't know how the internals look, but externally, fit and finish was unexpectedly decent, lock-up not great, but acceptable.

I normally don't get intrigued by any of the budget modern revolvers, but this one seems worth a second look.

Anyone here have one of these critters?

They need to come up with stuff folks want like wood stocks on a blued 357 snub that looks good. Keep their fit n finish. Not asking for 1970 Roosevelt Avenue…. Make it look good

They're rebadged pre-lock Taurus Model 66s. All Taurus did was dust off the machinery for their older Model 66 design and are now selling them under the Rossi label.

Not the same revolver according to Rossi. Different dimensions, different weight, the Taurus 66 still in production and has always had a transfer-bar safety.

When I spoke to them, they told me it was the older M66 tooling. And it is a pre-locl design, meaning no stupid key. Not the transfer bar safety. That's been around for a while.

The Rossi guns don't come with this.

Remember the Old Rossi’s! I want one of them! My buddy after High School got one and I thought it was the most BAD BUTT! thing ever, had but of a kick too and was perfect paired with a 1996 Eclipse with Tri-Star rims & 2 12” Kickers!

would pick one of these in a heartbeat!

I had a Rossi some years ago. I forget the Model number, but it was a copy of a Colt Diamondback 38. Vent rib and everything. Good little gun. Like a lot of guns, I kept it a while, enjoyed shooting it, then sold/traded it off for the next bright shiny thing I saw.

I've slowed down my gun chasing now, but I might consider one. Heck, I've got my eye out for a Heritage/Taurus 38 in spite of swearing off J-frame size 38's,,,again. Hopefully it will turn out to be a piece of junk I wouldn't use for a paperweight. ;)

I have never owned or shot a Rossi, but I must admit I do like the looks of that RP63 model. I do wish it had a square butt like the bigger model RM66.
I agree with @shoebox1.1 that a blued/wood model would be really cool. I have to admit that Rossi’s ad folks sure did find a way to make a stainless matte finished gun look sexy.

Sorry stainless guys. In my opinion matte stainless steel is about as sexy as latex paint.

This is just a completely meaningless post.

But I moved to Houston in 2000 from the country at 23 and got a job at a pawn shop. I remember that store had two Rossi .38 J frame style revolvers, exposed hammer, and maybe a 2.1 inch barrels, with consecutive serial numbers. There was nothing special about them other than they were in 100% condition, NOT +p rated, probably born around 1980. We sold them as a pair to a boss, or jefe.

They were rock solid handguns. If I had to guess they are still in north central Houston protecting some older folks.

My Smith X-Frame matt stainless has the factory pre-scuffed look! I feel the latex pain

I decided to check out the 3” RP63 a bit more and I came across them on Midway USA.
They look pretty sassy with the laminate grip, though I dislike smooth revolver and pistol grips it sure does look nice…even stainless.😜

And I think I just got my first lesson in what it would be like to own a Rossi RP63. No other grips available using Rossi RP63 as the search criteria.
Would these revolvers take a Taurus or S&W grip?

Not a fan of too much lug, prefer pencil barrel & a nice Pac grip
