The One(s) You DON'T Regret Trading or Selling

Reading threads like this is why I don’t buy used hand guns or rifles
Really? Try as I might, I can't think of a single handgun, rifle or shotgun that I bought used and later regretted buying. As a matter of fact, I was looking at it just last night, and probably my favorite revolver of all times is the 4" Model 67 Smith with a pinned barrel that I bought used about 20 years ago. It's still in "like-new" condition, and I paid all of $100.00 for it to a guy I knew at work.
And that Dan Wesson revolver that I mentioned earlier in this thread as being a gun that I don't regret selling - I bought that gun NEW, returned it to the factory twice for repairs (which were never done) and then sold it to a gunsmith who claimed he could fix it. I guess he did because I never heard another word about it.
BTW, I sold that Dan Wesson revolver for a lot less than I paid for it, and I still don't regret selling it.;)

I purchase the vast majority of my guns used and have no regrets on any of them except the one that I'm adding to this thread. Most of the guns I'm interested in are only available used. Anyway I happily sold a SNS .38 back in the 70s that shot around corners for what I paid for it.

Walther/Interarms PPK .380. Just an all ‘round miserable pistol. KelTec .380 far better. Also have a German made PP in .32 that’s as good as the PPK was bad.

2 LCPs. Unreliable. Both went to Ruger and got ‘new slide assembly’. Nice guns, unreliable.

S&W 645. Big, clunky, ugly.

Colt Python 6”. Beautiful gun, I never liked it.

Remington 870 magazine. Poor solution looking for a problem. Not a handgun but I was so glad to be rid of it I thought I’d mention it.

im sure there others but those come to mind.

Kahr PM9. Trigger pull was as long as a horse's face and then some. Just awful and didn't need to be so long.

I have owned 25-30 Ruger 10/22s over the years , never kept one for long . Not sure why , they just don't have soul for me I guess . Have not had one for a couple years so I am due for another . Slow learner I guess.
Reply to my own thread . I bought another 10/22 yesterday . I really am a slow learner , but I needed something to try my hand at CMP Rimfire Sporter . I can always sell it after the match .:)

To date, I have sold or traded 27 guns. I only regret 2 or 3 of them. Even those would be easily replaced if so inclined.

Mauser HSc in .380. I had a German first, lots of jams, trigger bar broke after 100 rds., unreliable. Sold it quickly. years later I found the Italian version. Got it and it was just as unreliable.
2 KelTec pistols, a 9mm and a 22lr. Neither were worth keeping.

I haven't sold many pistols, and I actually bought back the one I most regretted. Most have been to get upgrades or dump an unwanted caliber. The only one I REALLY don't regret was a Taurus PT22. Not a bad gun, but it was a bit ammo finicky and I had no real use for it.
I sold my Swedish Lahti to fund a Luger, and three years later I bought it back from the guy. Very happy about that!

I lost count about how many handguns alone I have sold, mostly to fund another gun but it is closer to 200 than 100. I have not really regretted selling any of them and have kind of upgraded the little armory over the decades.

Yep...back when S&W brought out the N frame model 25 in .45 LC as a production gun, I bought one, looking forward to those BIG holes in my target paper...Well, I got the holes but the 25 yd. grouping with handloads of a broad spectrum and all factory loads were 5-7"....abominable. A trip up to S&W in Springfield got the gun a gunsmith/range check out and a curt letter saying it was within specs.
I slugged the bore and cylinder throats & found a mis-match of ~0.006". The gun sported a bore dia. of 0.452" and throats that went 0.457"- 0.459". I traded it off post-haste to a gunsmith friend who planned to re-bore a model 28 cylinder to fix the problem....with good results.

Later guns were better matched I understand, but beware, those of you who long for a model 25 in ..45 Colt...the early ones are dogs...Best Regards, Rod

I had a Taurus 22lr, an M94 I think. The cylinder fell out. The trigger pull was ridiculous. I got rid of it with no regrets.

It was probably a 941.
I had one and it would only fire 16 rds. (8 shot) before the cylinder quite turning.
A real piece of crap. Traded it for a Ruger Mark III.

A Glock 21 because it was just too big & heavy. It sat in the safe for the most part with an occasional range trip so I didn't feel like I wasted money. Another is a SIg SP2022 that never hit what I was aiming at. I sold the Glock for a profit & traded the Sig for a Ruger SP101 that the owner fired 2 rounds through then realized a 2 1/4" 357 wasn't his cup of tea.

One of the worst pistols I ever bought... a Smith & Wesson 617 .22LR... with an 8 3/8" full lug barrel. It was not the sum of it's parts... just a stupid pistol.

AMT .380 DAO. A reasonable compact pistol... but heavy, with the heel mag release, sight channel, and 87# trigger.

The only one I don't regret selling was my Beretta Bobcat 22. I could never hit anything with it well enough to suit me. It was reliable but the split pin the tip up barrel hinged on was wearing loose, so I knew the barrel was wearing loose also.
Someone told me they wanted it so I sold it to them for about 75% of what I paid for it.
I was glad to be rid of it.

I enjoy my 617 6" but that barrel length is pushing it! 8 3/8" is right out.

Oh, let's see. My Colt Python that went out of time because of gouged bolt stops on the cylinder after 400 rounds (1978), Smith and Wesson 669 9mm. it was an anchor. Thompson Center contender in 30 Herrett, Thompson Center Contender 16 inch in 45/70 (what was I thinking?), 1st generation Smith and Wesson Sigma 9mm malfunction nightmare, and the magazine basepads kept flying off. Russian Makarov, just wasn't my type of pistol.

I traded a S&W 63 for it... which in hindsight was one of the stupidest things I've ever done. I wound up trading the 617 off for a Winchester 9422... which was a much better deal.

>>I’ve sold a hundred or better. No real regrets as they were all a means to an end at the time<<

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I have parted with many I don't miss. Off the top of my head:

NAA 22 Mag mini revolver. A fun novelty, but not very practical.
Kel-Tec P11. Worked as advertised and accurate enough. Sold it to fund something better.
Kel-Tec P3AT. Liked it, a lot, but I like the Ruger LCP better; definitely prefer .380 over .32 ACP.
Kahr K40. Reliable and accurate but very heavy for its size; there are better options for concealed carry.
Ruger SP101 in .22 LR. Probably the most disappointing of the lot. Heavy, gritty trigger, not as accurate as I expected. Sold it with no regrets even though I am generally a Ruger fan.

EAA Bounty Hunter- broke springs and caused timing problems, just a cheap gun. Hi-standard Sport King- jammed every 2nd-3rd shot despite multiple fixes by me and a gunsmith. Just wasn't worth the hassle. My worst gun I was glad to get rid of was a Mossberg 5500. Just a poorly designed piece of crap.

No regrets selling most of the ones I've sold. Glock 17, XD-S, M&P 45 are three that I definitely don't regret selling. Sadly I bought the M&P new and sold it with less than 100 rds through it.
