22 guns

hi all

I personally only shoot .22 cal guns be it 22lr or 22wmr just for the price of ammo i have a Colt army special 32-20 a winchester 1892 lever action 44 and a mossberg 42 ww2 trainer rifle (actually used for that purpose in england) those were all my great grandfathers and grandfathers guns i bought a Savage 93 in 22wmr and a Henry AR-7 22lr and in 4-8 weeks i will be a proud owner of a pheonix Hp22a deluxe rangemaster kit, anyway i shoot 22's because there cheap and fun and anyone who thinks that they wont stop someone, will probably treat them like air rifles and air rifles like squirt guns,(Dangerously) according to what i have read 22lr have the same kinetic energy (depending on the bullet type) as a 9mm/380 the only difference is the 22 will dump that in 12 inches of flesh not 36" like centerfire rounds. now im not saying a .45 wont do serious damage but im saying 1 .45 in the bad guy and 4 in the wall behind him will do less damage than 8 of my little "puny" 22lr rounds. :barf:

I go to the range every weekend and it cracks me up to see guys with 45's shooting at 1ft by 2ft shoot'n'see targets at 25 yards and not hitting them whilst talking S***:cuss: about my 22. a guy i met at the range has a box full of 22 pistols buckmarks,rugers,1911 conversions and a walther tph and we shoot clay pidgeons and then the fragments of clays at 50 yards with his pistols now we dont hit every time but missing a 2" piece of clay by 2" at 50 yard is better than missing entirely at $1.50 a round at half the distance.:banghead:

anyway i really like all the pistols that you guys posted pics of:D ,and when i get my hp22 i will put pics of it up, oh i think a mouse gun is anything smaller than a .380/9x25 and will be small enough to fit behind your hand or close to it

Mouse Guns

I love the little pistols and it's great to see this thread popup again. It's really a fun topic and loaded with some fantastic "Show and Tell photos of our little mice" as well as really good personal insight on why they are liked so well.

380's Sig P232, P238, Colt Mustang and GovMKIV, Ruger LCP
22LR Walther P22, PP22.r, PPK 22lr.

What is the point of that piece of leather? It is not a holster since it provides none of the functions of a holster. Why even bother with it?

Very good point! Then again they also made the Edsel and folks bought them didn't they.

is does protect the gun, a legitimate holster function

flattens out the profile so that it doesn't print as much through clothes

not arguing, I agree with your questioning its usefulness

I think it's intended to look like a wallet. When the mugger demands your wallet, you give him the contents thereof instead.

A Colt pocket nine is more akin to having a badger in your pocket than a mouse but I really wish I had one.

I have 1908 Vest Pocket and an FIE Titan, both in 25ACP. The Colt is a hoot to shoot and it's fairly accurate (minute of popcan) out to 20 feet or so. I've never fired the Titan, though it's actually a pretty well made little piece by Tanfoglio. Both have a lot of finish wear as they were carried daily by a little old lady in a suede clip holster.

Neat thread. I read this whole thing and noticed no one has an MPA Protector. Anybody out there know anything about these?

There seems to be some disconnect in what our members consider Mouse Guns.

Naw. But in any thread where you ask to speak nicely about guns or ask for pictures ... people will talk nicely about *all* their favorite guns and show off *all* their pics. 8)

The prime example being when someone says gun performing above expectation and talking about a 4k handgun. 8)

That being said ...

I don't have a mousegun yet, just because I haven't found one I like shooting t this point.
My wife has a Baby Browning though, which she carries in an ankle holster and will soon have a .22 short Beretta on top of that.

I will admit that I am a large caliber guy. I generally carry a .45 auto or revolver. That said, I have a Colt Pony Pocketlite .380 and a Keltec P32. I am unhappy with the Pony and am probably going to sell it. However, I will keep the Keltec.

I'll be honest and say that while I can shoot my larger pistols with great results, I am consistently unhappy with my shooting performance with those pistols. They are "belly guns".

That said, I do carry the KelTec from time to time as it is extremely concealable. The optional clip on the side makes it easy to clip it onto light-weight shorts (I'm thinking my Kimber would drag those shorts to my ankles). I'm also a big believer of the first rule of gun fighting..."Have a gun".

So the KelTec is easier to carry in those situations, lighter than the Pony, and about as accurate. If I had to do it again, I'd buy the Keltec .380. Bigger bullets are better but a .32 is better than nothing.

Love my Model 9 Walther, sig 238(rat gun), Baby Browning, Beretta Jetfire.25, Colt .25, Seecamp .32... Im a sucker for these little mouse guns. As for being only conversation topics, more people that you would believe have gone down in bad deals with mouse guns. My thoughts.

I don't have pics loaded on my new computer, but my favorite mouse gun is a 1955 made Beretta 1935 in .32 ACP. The firing pin occasionally strikes too lightly, but it shoots great otherwise. I'm not in a big hurry about getting that fixed because it's more of a safe queen anyway.
The safety on these guns is weird. They require a 180 degree rotation. You could probably carry it with the safety at 90 degrees, but I wouldn't feel comfortable with that because it's single action.

Love this thread, and I love mouse guns. Mainly because, even though I like to carry the larger calibers, so often because of my wardrobe I'm limited to a gun the size of a wallet.

I have carried a KT P3AT for a couple of years and my wife has a KT P32 which is the only gun she feels comfortable with. Love the little Kel Tecs. :)

Two weeks ago, though, I purchased my latest mouse gun, although it's more like a mouse on steroids.

Here it be:

I'm also a fan of these little firecrackers. When I first started carrying, I wanted a pocket BUG, and I purchased a Beretta 21A .25 in a private sale. What a great little gun that was, but I was uncomfortable with .25 to say the least, so I later sold it and put the $$ towards my first Kel-Tec P32. Later I traded that first blued P32 towards a hard chrome P32, then last year I traded that one in towards a hard chrome P3-AT, which I often pocket carry as primary in warm weather or situations where carrying a larger pistol isn't practical.

I do still kinda miss that Bobcat, though.

I am really liking my two week old DB380. A true joy to hold and shoot.
