    You have gone through (most of) the twelve step program.

    You think you are cured.

    You approach the problem rationally: No room left in the safe(s), you already have something in that chambering, the performance is closely replicated by something else you own, you have that action already, you really can't afford it,...

    You think you are cured. Then you go by the LGS, and there is a rifle that "speaks to you" when you pick it up.

    But then you go through all of the reasons of why you shouldn't, and you resist.

    But you go by the LGS again...

    So far I have resisted. But then there is a CZ550 FS just down the street that keeps whispering my name...

    I hope someone has snatched it up before I visit the LGS again.

    There is no cure for your condition. You can only make the symptoms subside by purchasing the rifle. Sadly, if someone else purchases the rifle you will go through withdrawal. :neener:

    I feel your pain. There is no cure only treatment. The doctor recommends that you buy the rifle, some ammo, go to the range and begin to heal.

    I see it like the "Winchester Curse", if I stop buying I might die. My list is getting pretty short!

    I think I caught it while staying up late at night in my youth reading Gun Digest and Shooter's Bible...

    The best way to deal with temptation is to give into it. That way, you'll stop being tempted because you have what tempted you to begin with.

    That's very good, but not perfect advice. It has mostly worked for me over time, except for when it was determined that a second one was needed. (two is one and one is none, you see...)

    I reached 70 this year and decided it was time for a bit of catharsis and to downsize, especially on items I haven't shot in years and that have doubled or tripled in price. So I've sold 21 since the year began.

    But picked up six more along the way... it's been a very good year. No cure in sight...

    Clear Cut, I've saved so much money reloading, I've decided to start swaging bullet and wildcatting to save even more. I'm gonna be rich!

    Dr. T;

    No you don't. You know you don't. And, shame on you, you forgot to let us know what caliber it's in. If it's a 6.5 Swede fullstock, just PM me with the shop's name & location.

    Oddly enough, it is in some oddball European chambering, something like 6.5x55...

    Shop location shall remain undisclosed. I don't want anyone falling off the wagon on account of something I did...

    Hello. My name is Don and I am a gun nut.

    Someone, please, tell me why I needed a brace of Colt #4 Derringers. :D

    Dr T;

    Don't worry about a thing, I was never on the wagon.

    There are now three possibilities. Here's what I see as the order of probability:
    1. Somebody else has already bought it.
    2. You're gonna be lucky enough that it's still there when you go for it.
    3. I figure out where it's at.

    Well, there are ways around buying new guns. It involves spending money on other things, though..........

    My collection has grown by 5 since March, even though I haven't purchased or traded into a gun since mid 2015.

    From one addict to another, its a CZ! They aren't making 550s anymore i hear, and its a FS?! Go buy it! I can't remember if ALL the 550 models are discontinued, but that is a dang fine rifle, and 6.5x55 would be AWESOME. I would go get it, those are never available around my neck of the woods...

    I am cured; age and a full safe with everything I ever wanted slowed me down considerably. I have all I ever wanted and then some - the "then some" is the quality of what I have - I was/ am fortunate enough to have accumulated some very good stuff over the years and have realized that adding would (for me) just be gluttony - I am philosophically at "gun peace of mind". The good news is that a cure is possible for some - like everything in life, everything has an upside and a down side - getting old does have some upside.

    Dr T,

    You are being offered a fortuitous opportunity to SAVE money by buying that 6.5x55 550 FS, so you'd best jump on it. The 6.5x55 can serve a range of purposes and save you from having to buy a 550 FS in both .308 and .243 like I did. Go get it! ;)

    I was saved from myself: I went by this morning and it was gone.

    However, they have a 308 CZ550 FS with a single set trigger, nice wood, and a removable magazine. The temptation is slightly less since I already have three other 308's. But it began to whisper to me when I picked it up...
