The symptons of the new gun addiction

Passed on a buyitnow S&W 457 for $300 shipping included.

You can live with regrets - like passing on German Border Patrol HK P7's with red bluing for $450, or even further back, a choice of Shelby GT350s starting at $1800.

Not passing on this last in my lifetime chance on a certain brand and model - it's at it's lowest price ever and won't get any cheaper in the future. It's buy it now or go without - again.

First rule of tools and guns is don't buy duplicates so much as a different variation to enhance your overall capabilities. I've got a plastic .380, an alloy framed semi 1911 9mm, now I'm interested in all stainless in .45. And if you open your eyes and look, they are out there selling for $450 with mags.

Frankly, a gun I previously ignored because it wasn't cool then. It was run of the mill. Now in an age of black plastic, you either buy a 1911 for $1100, or you remember what you saw in holsters just 20 years back and selling as police trade ins . . .

thanks a lot guys :scrutiny:
you've made me realize I have an empty niche for a full length Mannlicher stocked something or other :cuss:

Dude, guns are the light stuff. You think it's bad now? Wait until you go down the training rabbit hole. Then your driving to other states, setting up dry fire courses in your basement, your riding your bike to save gas money so you can afford the ammo and getting up early to work out....

Kayak, that's very true. Gear, extra ammo, and training fees add up quickly. I was into 3-Gun and IDPA a couple of years ago but stopped because it was not feasible for my budget. Unless your sponsored (or can afford it independently), it is hard to maintain.

You have gone through (most of) the twelve step program.

You think you are cured.

You approach the problem rationally:

No room left in the safe(s)
Buy another safe three doesn't take that much more room than two!

you already have something in that chambering
That was never an issue, this one is a different caliber or has a different stock/grip/forend ,

the performance is closely replicated by something else you own,
again, never an issue, see above

you have that action already,
again, never an issue, see above

you really can't afford it,...
Where theres a will, there is a way ... sell something, work overtime, quit smoking/drinking/casino ... you know, the bad habits!

You think you are cured. Then you go by the LGS, and there is a rifle that "speaks to you" when you pick it up.
first mistake, but it happens

But then you go through all of the reasons of why you shouldn't, and you resist.
for a while, but the whispering keeps getting louder!

But you go by the LGS again...
of course, how can you not?

So far I have resisted. But then there is a CZ550 FS just down the street that keeps whispering my name...
very familiar with the issue but that's what "they" do!

I hope someone has snatched it up before I visit the LGS again.
don't fight it, they'll get another ... or you'll find several on Gunbroker at a better price

I've quit telling myself "I don't need it" that never works anyway.

Lately I've been trying to tell myself that I'm too old

or don't want to burden my wife with having to get rid of them

or I had one and sold it for a good reason

or I don't want to load another caliber

But none of it really helps ... it seems the whisper turns into a scream ... and I always give in just to stop the dreams and voices in my head.

The last one ... I already had 3 in the same platform, 1 with the same furniture ... but this was a different caliber (6.5 Creedmoor) sold 9 other guns to fund it, no money out of pocket ... it helped other gun-nuts quiet the whispers in their heads ... it made room in the safes and I was stimulating the economy!

I felt good about it ... I'm a heck of a good guy!

Now I'm done ...

... until the madness starts again.

It's a sad disease for which there is no cure. I think it would be great if the government would help out by subsidizing our expenses or at least supply free ammo.

Yeah, it would be great ... But they won't even let us buy those old beat-up left over M14's much less GIVE us anything!

It would be great if they would just quit infringing on our 2nd Ammendment rights!

The grass is always greener on the other side of the........gun counter...............

Fella's;

Regarding Nature Boy's comment; It's been my experience that it depends on which side of the counter you're on. If I'm buying it, it's gold. If I were to buy it, walk across the street & try to sell it, it's dreck. Such is capitolism fueled by profit. Shortly I feel that such crass commercialism will be phased out by the New World Order.
